So I'm currently running my server on a VPS and I connect to it via PuTTY. For some reason Essentials and other plugins are getting denied to write files. I havent chmod'ed /plugins/ so I chmod'ed it to 777 (I know I'm not suppose to do that). So what is the default permissions for /plugins/?

Whatever is defaulted by your box, I'd say. Something like 644, I think.

Tried 644, bukkit wont read it at all. I did /pl and no plugins showed up even though the jars are in the folder.

You shouldn't set it to 644, I ment it might be default. I don't really know :p

Ah got it, installed winSCP and connected to my other server. For anyone who is wondering all directories: rwxrwxr-x. Jars get rw-r--r--.
