Obsidian TV?

Would it be possible for a nominated area of blocks (say black wool or Obsidian) to change colour according to a designated link (designated in a config file)

So when an Op selects and area of blocks perhaps by a Worldedit style selection, he can type /tv on and let the blocks change colour like a scaled down video feed from the link. The link could be anything, but it would be best probably to a youtube video, which then endlessly loops.

I have no Java experience so I have no idea how hard this would be, but if it is possible it would help a lot for monitors/televisions.

It wouldn't be that difficult to do (see sk89q's YouTube player on a map).
    There are some issues:
    • large amounts of blocks would be needed to get even a very pixelated image
      • rapid chunk reloads
        • lag
    • Streaming of a YouTube video (when Minecraft is already hogging bandwidth)
      • more lag
