New Bukkit (Recommended Build) Announcements System

We've finally setup an oft-requested system for people to get alerts whenever we promote a new Recommended Build. We used to use XenForo's alert system to send an alert out to all the Plugin Developers, but have since discontinued that system and found that it could not handle the load.

Simply subscribe to this Google Group and you'll get emails whenever we promote a new build informing you of a new RB:
http://groups.google.com/group/bukkit_announce

We hope this makes it easier for you Server Admins to keep on top of our updates (and possibly other announcements).

Getting that and updating my craftbukkit, hopefully I can update it.

 

I subscribed and like this very much, though I think a simple mailing list would be better. So you don't need a gmail account.
Just a small page, layout isn't even needed, to subscribe. This could be done easily using PHP (store e-mail addresses in Database). Another simple php page (admin only, password protected) to send e-mails to all addresses in the database.
Just my 2 cents.

But I like it anyway there is such a function now.

Yes, it will remain and it will be updated.

 

Awesome, thanks for giving us a way to be notified, much appreciated! I'd already setup an email notification from the RSS using feedmyinbox.com - figured I'd mention it for Bertware and the two other people on the planet who don't yet have Google accounts.

The Bukkit Team is starting the transition from forums.bukkit.org to dev.bukkit.org...

 

whats the difference between devbukkit and regularbukkit?

 

I use craftbukkit so it shouldn't make any difference as the latest reccomended build right?

 

Developer bukkit is for developers where regular bukkit is for the community.
