Are you guys using OpenJDK? (if using linux type "java -version" into terminal)
OS? (If using linux type "lsb_release -a")
    CPU? (type "cat /proc/cpuinfo")
    Ram?
    32 or 64 bit? (type "uname -m")
    ________
    My specs
    Java:
    java version "1.6.0_20"
    OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.9.8) (6b20-1.9.8-0ubuntu1~10.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode)

    OS: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS

    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GH
    Cache: 3072 KB

RAM: 8gb vps, 3 dedicated to minecraft

    Bit: 64bit

We are going to find this problem =P.
If its Java garbage collector, why does it work well for some adn not others. Is this related to anything? Possible OpenJDK?

Your problem might just be that your over using your ram. That's a lot of plugins for 2gb of ram.
Its also possible your power settings might be halving your cpu if the computer is idle. Or something else of this type. Turn off screen savers, make sure the computer isnt set to hibernate, so on so forth.

  2. It's always a plugin thats causing it. I have helped tons of people fix that error. You wont get out of the way of checking EVERY SINGLE PLUGIN, as in remove a plugin, let the server run, crash? remove another plugin, doesn't crash? you just found the plugin that was causing it.

Do you know how to make the error happen? I can't reproduce the error on my test server , and I can't just delete plguins in my live server :\

  4. Well thats too bad :p It's one of those errors that you can only fix by trial and error. Start off with the least important plugins, then go to the ones that you really need. Once you get to those that will let people break the server lock it down with a blank whitelist.

    java version "1.7.0-ea"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0-ea-b145)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 21.0-b15, mixed mode)

    Distributor ID: Ubuntu
    Description: Ubuntu 10.10
    Release: 10.10
    Codename: maverick

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 960 @ 3.20GHz

    24gb RAM 1600

64bit (would be funny at 32bit)

This would suggest its one of the major plugins

I'm having issues as well. It happens about once every other day. I don't use a panel. Plugins in common seem to be iConomy, Permissions, WorldEdit, and WorldGuard. System Info: Ubuntu 10.10, Intel i3 550, 8GB RAM.

so I should delete some non-important plugins and clear RAM
i have just 832 MB dedicated for the server, should i increase them?

also i have another question:Isn't it possible to crate a BATCH file that closes and then re-opens the server's BATCH file at an interval of let's say, 2 hours?I searched all over the internet and i can't find a script that does that!Or maybe someone knows a program that can do that?

Is really Iconomy causing that problems? I can't believe so :\

    Sorken

I can trim that list further to: iConomy, LWC and Permissions 3.1.6
Since disabling iConomy seems to fix it, I will try that aswell and report back in a couple of days.

@Nijikokun should probably be informed of this aswell.

I had similar issues with MC crashing every time I used chests or crafting tables. I narrowed it down to BukkitContrib 0.1.7

You dont happen to have MCMMO installed? If so I said on page to that would be an issue on 3.1.6

    Without iConomy?

    Donny

    yes.

For me this issue happens more than once an hour, usually. Some days it doesn't happen at all.

I had the same problem for a long time.. Since I've updated essentials, it doesn't crash anymore.
I've also have Permissions 3.x, but i didn't update this one..

    Edit: Bukkit 1000...

Okay I was crashing every 10 minutes no joke.
I noticed it was crashing when the same player joined, every time.
I deleted his player.dat file along with 15,000 other (all from 7 days+ ago)

Much better now, haven't crashed in an hour.

Make that two hours, CPU is now runnign correctly, not capping at 25% and/or dropping to 0% every 3 minutes

I spoke with the player who seemed to be "crashing" the server. He said he noticed it also and it was every time he entered a certain area (chunk). I tested it out and it was true. I disabled all plugins, entered the chunk , max cpu then cpu dorp to 0%. I went from bukkit to normal minecraft_server.jar, entered that chunk, crash.

    New world, no crash...wtf

Well there was an update for mcmyadmin i'll see if this fixes anything

    Trollkemada

You may want to write an issue for the bukkit team with the info

I have made an entry in leaky for that particular issue. Along with what I was able to find out. However the more this gets reported the more attention it will get which would mean a eventual fix.

    Here's the link.

Since this update everything seems to be normal again i don't get any cpu spike or when it goes to 0% and kicks everyone but i'll still keep an eye on it
