    ItemCraft is a Bukkit mod that allows adding new item and block types, crafting and furnace recipes, and custom tree generators and more. Using a Modloader and SettingsGUI interface it allows subplugins known as ICPlugins to be loaded to support client mods. ICPlugins can be created by translating a client mod using the ICTranslator ICplugin. Using a ModloaderMP interface (ported by krnlyng/liar) it allows porting multiplayer mods to bukkit.

    Installation & Usage:
    • Back up your world(s). Just in case.
    • ItemCraft.jar goes in same folder as craftbukkit
    • IC plugins go into ItemCraft/ICPlugins folder under craftbukkit. (folder is autocreated the first time)
    • uncomment (remove #) in front of all plugins you want to use in plugins.ics (autocreated in ItemCraft/ICScript)
    • Make sure you have the recommended version of craftbukkit in the title - since this is a mod of that version in particular.
    • Delete/rename the META-INF folder inside craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar (Use some decent zip program (e.g. 7zip) that can do it.)
    • All players on the server needs to have the client mods installed
    • If you use the 16 bit entity id packet mod (in case you use new entites (only ICMCreatures need it)), All players need (flan's unofficial) ModLoaderMP client mod
    • All players also need the 16 bit entity id packet mod (overwrites a ModLoaderMP's class so make sure ModLoaderMP is installed first) in case you use new entites (only ICMCreatures need it) If decide not to use the packet mod, you can turn it off putting this in your startup file: false setEntityIDPacketMod
    • Sometimes you get block/item ID conflicts, between plugins. You then need to set the conflicting ids in the startup script using setID command: example. They have to be set before the plugin that uses them is loaded. Note also that there is typically a props file on the clientside you have to edit the ids on to be the same as well.

      Vote here not in this thread anymore (it gets lost in all the other stuff)

      Reporting errors:
      • Read known issues - don't report those.
      • State the version of CB, ItemCraft and ICPlugin(s) you have problems with
      • If your client crashes, start the client from command line so that you get the error report.
      • Make sure the mod(s) works in SSP First before you report any errors here.
      • You are more likely to get a response if you describe the problem in more detail and do some testing yourself first of under what circumstances it occurs
      • Do not ask for uploads of minecraft.jar.
      • Do not pm me.
      • If you have problems installing, you are likely doing something wrong. Make sure you've followed the instructions exactly, read the FAQ and Wiki. If that doesn't work you can always ask in the thread, while I will likely not reply, there are others who can help you with your problem. But at least try to get it working yourself first.

    Since it is very hard with barely any information on how to use, I decided to make a little tutorial about how to add a simple block. (This is intended for developers, if you just want to use Blocks already made, you can skip the rest of this post)

    Add ItemCraft and bukkit as references in your IDE. That will do already.
    You start with a class that will be the main class in the package net.minecraft.server.
    The class should have the "mod_" prefix, but it should be optional. (Keep it clean - do it!)

    This class extends BaseMod.
    You do not need a constructor.

    As BaseMod is abstract, you also need to override public void ItemCraftInit(MinecraftServer)

    So far it should look like this:

    Now, to add your new Item, it is fairly simple. Create a new public abstract property, which will hold your item. In this case it will be a block.

    So you put public static Block blockTest; in your property declaration area.

    In the ItemCraftInit method, you assign an instance of the block to this property. (A class that will be created later, let's call it BlockTest for now)
    In the constructor of this Block, it wants to have the item id. For the item id you simply do ItemCraft.getID("blockTest",250);

    blockTest is an unique identifier, which will be accessible via ICScript. 250 is the default value, if the block is not set via ICScript.

    So far it should look like this:

    Let's make our block a little harder to break. We can do this in the assignment there already.
    Just change it to blockTest = (new BlockTest(ItemCraft.getID("blockTest",250))).c(2.0F);

    The method c looks pretty cryptic, an overview about such methods will follow later.

    Now we just have to register the block and we are nearly done:

    You can also add a method name public String version(), but it doesn't even override, so it is probably senseless. (ICNTrees does this)

    Now you need a second class for you new Block. We called it BlockTest earlier.
    For this one, I'll just give you the code and you should be able to see how to use it.

    plugin.yml is pretty clear. Main points to mod_test and version and name are yours to decide.

    As for the overview about cryptic methods/properties:

    • Block
      • c(float) - set hardness
      • f(int) - set light opacity
      • a(string) - set block name

    isGenerator should only be set to true if you want to generate blocks like nandonalt's trees. Then you need to overload GenerateSurface. Yes version() is senseless, its a leftover from the translation. Addname does nothing, its just a dummy to make porting faster.

    someone expierence a dramatic frame drop when using fancypack for 1.6.6? when i use fancypack with IC i have heavy lags. 8-20 fps when i turn it off everything works well again 50-60 fps

    Damn, ur plugin sucks man, tried to instal it 5times, still not working, if i open the snapshot.jar, and rename the folder to snapshot.jar, it says: not an valid jar file. -.-"
  11. Just because you are not able to figure it out does not mean it sucks. Many people, myself included, have installed the mod with absolutely no issues. I admit it is a complicated install but the plugin itself is sound. You cannot insult the mod simply because you do not understand the installation process.

    I'm having a problem with ICNTrees.I have build 860 and latest version of ItemCraft. I can get all the other plugins to run without any errors. And it doesn't give me an error when I load up ICNTrees. But when I log in to the server it loads up then freezes and then a black screen. The server says end of stream. I don't get that error with any of the other plugins running. (ICFancyPack, ICKSlopes, ICMCreatures, ICSGlass)

    But when I add the ICNTrees it freezes and then goes black. I've tried ICNTrees by itself and it does the same thing.

    Can someone help?

    I looked through the forum but i didn't see an answer. I could have missed it. Sorry if I did.

    How can i disable the bunnys in mo's creatures with Itemcraft. My hole server is full of bunnies.... The game is lagging omfg. :(

    I am currently unable to determine what is causing lag, but FancyPack1.6.6 is my prime suspect. I am using a 256-bit texture pack and sometimes I am getting 40+, then I drop to 1 frame.. weird. I tested from scratch and it seems to be client side because I also experience the slowness in single player.

    Limit the frequency of bunnies to 0 in "oldscript.ic". It has nothnig to do with ItemCraft so get that straight... it is a bug in Dr. Zhark's code. Fixes this as well as changing the spawndifficulty to 0 adds wraiths, ogres and werewolves to the game.

    Yes i suspect also fancypack 1.6.6, version 1.5_02 is a bit laggy ! But 1.6.6 is strange only in SMP no problem in solo...

    Hey have you make Nandolt´s Trees on your client and i see you are running Kslopes with the Ntrees so have you alredy changed the ID´s from Nandolt´s Tree ? and you must set the ID´s in your config from mod from client .
    Thats couses by me errors like yours

    I wonder if anyone could help me fix this conflict, it seems this bukkit plugin seems to work just fine with regular craftbukkit, but has issues and won't load correctly with ItemCraft with this error:
    Brought the issue up to author of Magicspells already, he said "Looks like ItemCraft redefines the Materials list, and hasn't added the new blocks that came with 1.6 (*of minecraft I assume he meant*)." It still has this error, even without any ICplugins enabled. I'm guessing "long_grass" meaning... tall grass? And Itemcraft changes something about it even without any of its ICplugins enabled. Is there a way around this I that I can change something in Item craft's config to stop this conflict maybe? Thanks to anyone who can chime in on this, I'm pretty confused about it.

    Btw, this plugin is the best and I can't play without it now.
