My bukkit server runs on an 8gb ram, 4 core vps.
I never use all of the ram I allocate to bukkit and the game usually runs fine.
But, sometimes it will use an extreme amount of cpu (compared to the amount I use when its being stable, about 25%) then drop to 0% for a few seconds. During the time the cpu is at 0% it lags horribly, nothing is done. It will do this for a while then randomly stop, kicking cpu usage to 0% holding at 0% for 5 seconds then the cpu raises to 60% (sometimes even 100%) for 20 seconds and then dropping back to 0% again, over and over.

    Anyone have any ideas?

im pretty sure that you computer needs to use some cpu to do anything. if its not using any cpu nothing will really work untill it starts using it again
