JDK or JRE Performance?

    Which is better JDK or JRE for server performance? I know JDK has JRE, but I've been hearing people say stuff about "garbage collectors," and I'm wondering how much different there is and what "GC" is.

    Both include JRE, but the JDK also includes some developer tools. There are some server-optimized versions of Java out there though, that favor stability over performance/features.
