    Hello,
I have a server on my laptop, but my parents are divorced.
In the weekend I am with my dad and in the week I am with my mom.
The point of all this is that my server IP change in the weekend/week.
Does someone know how I can use always the same IP?
I know a VPN program works, but isn't handy.
And with VPN programs comes many disadvantages.
Sow, does someone know an other way?
    Then please post it.
    Thank you!
    Roy

You should always leave server-ip blank...
And never run to bukkit instances at the same time

DynDNS is a paid service. Isn't this solvable with something free?

    Use No-IP.
It's free and does work very well.

I have a forum from a free forum website and I don't host it myself.
Sow DNS and no-IP doesn't work.
    It is too advanced too.
But a nice fellow told me a way, but I don't understand it well. Could someone explain it and add pics!
    Thank you!

    In windows,
Go into the device properties of the network adaptor you use. Go into the TCP/IPv4 protocol settings and rather than having the setting 'obtain an ip address automatically', manually set one to use all the time.

This will give you the same internal IP all the time on your laptop; but wont stop the external IP changing between the different locations. There is no way to do that.

You could use a service like no-IP or dyndns to give you a subdomain name that can be changed to point to different IP addresses. Then that way people could connect using that subdomain name.

Thanks for your answer! But please add pics or a tutorial or better explanation, because I don't understand you. I can't find th TCP/IPv4 protocol setting. And I also don't have an english OS, sow it is even harder (because the names are different). Sow please add pics.
    Thank you!

I believe no-ip is as simple as it gets for a dynamic dns service
