How to make Bukkit less laggy

    I am currently running my server on a 1.5 GB RAM VPS. It can only hold about 15 people with lag, I also the basic addons like Essentials, Permissions, BB, and Nocheat. I also run a MySQL database, I am wondering how I can optimize my server further and make it less laggy.

    Is the VPS running Xen or OpenVZ?

    It's running on Xen. It's started to lag up after I installed MySQL and Java takes up a lot of memory too.

    Pretty close to my specs then, I'm guessing BigBrother is causing the lagg, what are your settings in BB?

    Just the default, I'm guessing it logs all blocks being placed?

    The default for 1.7 or before? Mine is logging everything except lava flow and leaves-drops. If you type "top" in your SSH, how much is mysql and java using?

    It's the default for 1.6, Java is using about 1.2GB and SQL about 150MB.
