How do I keep my 'online-mode=' from reverting back to true?

    I edited the properties & saved it as 'online-mode=false' several times but it keeps reverting to true. How do I prevent this? Is there a code I can use to make this stop happening? I have a friend that can't buy Minecraft until he gets the money so I have to get it to false.
