I actually think bukkit is dead, well from what I have heard. I'm not really bothered about re-searching for further more information being that I don't run servers anymore. But to make a 1.8 server I think you need to research into some bukkit alternatives, I've seen one which has continuously popped up called Spigot. So try do some re-search on that.
Some are downloadable. And yes , Spigot is used the most for 1.8. They also have a 1.7.10 build which allows 1.8 users, which I use.
