Question Help with essentials pls

I have just made a server and I have downloaded essentials 2.13 and I am running a 1.10 server but it will not work ingame. When i restart the server and try to use any of the essentials commands none of them work.

If you have any help please be serious. Its probably really simple but help

Are you using the correct version of essentials?

 

You have a version of Essentials that only supports up to 1.7.10, which is the official release. The Spigot team are the ones that have been updating Craftbukkit and Spigot since 1.8. They've also forked Essentials and released an unofficial updated version. It works absolutely perfectly, and is what you need to download and put on your server. Just replace and Essentials plugins you have with the version from the following site. You do not need to delete your config file.
