So I just started a spigot 1.8 server and I'm trying to get essentials 1.8 running. Once I put the Essentials1.8.jar into the plugins folder, I start my server. Once my server is running everything is running fine. But, when I type /help nothing comes up! Please help i've been trying different things forever and I can't get it to work.

[13:43:46] [Server thread/ERROR]: Essentials not installed or failed to load. Essentials Protect is in emergency mode now. What does this mean?

You cant use the essentials files from the official essentials program (ie, you are likely using version 2.13 or 2.14) .
You need to download the jar files that were written specifically for spigot 1.8, they can be found on a jenkins server as a list of jar files (dont get all of them, just the ones you need for your server, and beware there are a couple of 'original' version jars also on the page.
Find: Google "Spigot 1.8 essentials" and its the first jenkins link
