[EDIT] BioMed v0.7.1 - Change those biomes! [1.4.7-R1.0]

    The block terrain generation of the newly generated chunks will also be affected by the chosen biome, won't it?

    Officially, sometime after a 1.2.4 beta build of CraftBukkit launches. Unofficially, I may post a link to an in-dev build sooner, if there's anything worth posting. I am currently making major changes to the command code, so BioMed is not in a build-able state. It all depends on how much time I have to work on it. Either way, the bukkit-dev system won't let me upload anything for 1.2.4 until there's a beta build out.

    Can you confirm that you have yourself tried BioMed v0.4 on one of the 1.2.4 CraftBukkit builds, and it didn't work? Could you post the specific CraftBukkit build and the error that appears in your server log?

    But how do i stop it snow in a specific Biome? :)

    To stop it from snowing, you need to change the area to a warmer biome that does not snow. To get rid of the existing snow in an area, you will need to remove it by hand, or use WorldEdit's "thaw" command.

    Hi, in one of your posts on the first page you state that one cant modify the biome they are in eg. from forrest to Hills, but at the top of the page it says Convert sections of any map to a different biome, is it possible and if so what is the command?

    I'm not sure what exactly you are asking; HOW do you want to change the map? The plugin is designed to change the biome metadata, but not blocks. Any of the set or clear commands will do this. Setting a global biome, however, will also affect the blocks in new chunks. All of the commands are documented on the commands page- you'll want to look up set and set-selection.

    Basically i have a desert, where im creating a large structure. the structure overlaps a small swamp biome which is in the middle of the desert, and theres no other desert for miles around. i want to change that swamp biome to dessert, expanding the desert from swamp/snow etc to desert. Although it would be great i dont expect the mod to modify blocks from grass to sand, but just to change the biome.

    Right, well that's easy enough then. If you have WorldEdit, just select the area with the WorldEdit wand and use "/biome set-selection desert". Otherwise, you'll need to look up some coordinates (use the lowest x/z corner) and use "/biome set worldname x z x-width z-height desert" to specify the region's boundaries.

    This is not working for me. I installed it (dragged the jar into my plugins folder) and got an error message ("is it up to date?"). Did I forget to do something?

    Got some questions, first how do I regenerate sections of the map where I changed the biome? And when I do will the new terrian conform to the new biome, or does this purely change the biome value of the chunk and not actually able to edit land?

    I don't want to sound impatient, but when do you insert this? I want to have a huge Island in an even larger sea, and this plugin would be the perfect tool to let it become generated :D

    Just an update, since I haven't been active here in a while:

    There hasn't been an update for 1.2.5 yet because I'm "too far to turn back" on some new features that are taking longer than expected to finish. Normally, I'd switch branches in the code and roll out the minimum changes needed for 1.2.5, but I forgot to commit a snapshot before starting, so there's nothing to switch to at the moment. Compounding problems, I've become quite busy lately, and haven't had the time to even think about this project. I can't give a time frame on when I expect things to be working again, but I'm more than halfway now- it all just depends on my schedule. Despite the delay, the project is not abandoned; so check back for updates.

    Now that the world format has been changed to Anvil and everything, and biomes are now saved per x/z column... would it be possible to add an option to actually change the biomes? Eg. Change swamp to forest.

    Vareide did it somehow in his Survival Games map; set the entire "arena" to forest.

    I'm having a little trouble with this plugin. I'm using the "/biome set-global -w world Savanna" command but it keeps saying "An internal error occurred while trying to attemp this process". Also I've been able to successfully change single biomes into different ones (jungle to desert). I'm running the 1.2.4 version of the plugin on a 1.2.4 server.

    doesnt work at all let alone not editing the grass, water etc doesnt even change the weather, since when does it snow in hell??

    For anyone who wants to use this in CB 1.2.5-R4.0, I forked the project since the author seems to have vanished. I put an unofficial "release" here that works with the latest Bukkit: https://github.com/pdinklag/BioMed/downloads

    It works as good as 0.4 from what I gather, There are almost no problems with Multiverse (global biomes do not work on spawn chunks ), but WorldEdit's //regen command behaves very weirdly. I will look into getting these issues fixed, but no promises.

    Note that I won't offer any support at this point. I have not been in contact with Karl Marx about this.
