Does a 8-10gb world use more cpu than a 1gb one?

  1. Hi

My current map is 8-10gb, I am thinking of resetting it. If reset it, would my server use less CPU with the same number of players online, up to 80?

    thanks

    I would think so.

Yes. larger size = more ram usage = more processing power to load the entire thing into memory.

    no, doesnt matter

the world is loaded compared to the view-distance in your properties cfg.
so only chunks (world) is loaded around players

it depends on how many players are on your world, more players = more world.. (unless players are close to eachother)

the larger map size does not really affect cpu but will affect memory alot smaller the map the more players you can hold but if your having problems with your cpu maxing out
    time for an upgrade

  6. Also, do chunks automatically save with bukkit? I've been told they're meant to but they never have for me in 6 months.

Make sure your automatic terrain saving is on. The command is /save-on

  8. I typed that command, it said "Enabling level saving..." we'll see if that works, but I don't remember ever turning it off if it was off.
