Custom flintlock pistol firing mechanism

    Gun plugins are cool and all, but what would be even cooler is if someone made a plugin which allows you to put gunpowder in your offhand and flintlock in your mainhand and load it like a crossbow, then put a bullet in your offhand and flintlock in main hand to load the flintlock and be able to fire it. I'd definetly need that for my upcoming server.
    Ps: similliar to guns plugin, it wouldnt use a new item, instead it would be a model on a horse armour or crossbow

    Yes of course! Would love if it was little customizable eg the damage and reload time (possibly the item used for ammo) thank you!

    The damage can be customizable. For the reload, i thought that you could take gunpowder and the flintlock, put the gunpowder in. Then do the same with the projectile (not sure if could be customizable, since i havent done custom items in the config), and then had to use a rod to "push" the projectile into position. This means, that skilled players could literally get better and faster at reloading. Also idk if it would interest you but maybe putting multiple gunpowder to increase range and/or damage? maybe with deminishing returns as to not make it too op.

    Mmm yes however there's 2 issues
    1. You could pre load multiple guns and spam them like crossbows
    2. If issue 1 didnt exist then being good at reloading should be benefical, however muskets and flintlocks were powerful weapons and if there was no firing cooldown they would have to be nerfed to the point they're no longer even guns (being able to load instantly and fire in like 3 seconds would be broken)
    The idea with more gunpowder would be good.

    I dont know if there is any way to solve the first issue (at least not without immense amounts of potential bugs and issues, + the non realistic features that come with it)
    i dont know what else could be done to increase the loading time (maybe other than adding more steps to reloading). what is the "ideal" reload time for you?

    Well, it is a flintlock, its pretty powerful and took a bit to reload, some vanilla items have a cooldown, eg enderpearl, i imagine a decent system would be = you load the gunpowder, once its full eg: 3/3 gunpowder, there is 5s cooldown like with pearls, then you load the bullet, another 5s cooldown and then you just push it with the ramrod and be good to go

    Which would be a 10s loading cooldown, it would probably deal like 4-6 hearts to players in armour, that depends on how many issues and abuse opportunities come with it ofcourse.

    so is it that you need all 3 gunpowder? or you can use 3 but you dont have to? cuz if u dont have to, then the cooldown for gunpowder wont trigger until you load all 3. it would need to be moved somewhere else.

    mmm could probably make a recipe which uses multiple gunpowder/some other dust or ore to make a gunpowder pouch/gunpowder flask, so technically i think it would be more simple and easy to understand if it required only one item, for now it could be something like phantom membrane, after the gunpowder flask is loaded then the 5s cooldown happens
