I'm fairly new to development. but I've been poking around and I'm trying to find out what tells the craftbukkit server it needs to keep spawning in creatures when a player is in a chunk, or when to stop spawning new ones. Realizing that this is all inside of the obfuscated code, so it probably wont make any difference. but hey I learned something!
Not sure what you're trying to do, but you can hook the spawn events and cancel ones you want to replace the behavior on, and then spawn your own in a periodic task. That's pretty much exactly how creaturebox works.
