    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Show your thanks! Maintaining plugins like HeroChat is very nearly a full time job. Hi!
I'm trying to set a channel up that is meant to be able to notify players of events or restarts, etc. This is what I have, but when I try to speak in it, it tells me I can't. Any reason you can tell from this? I'm in the Admins usergroup.
    Code:
        Notify:
            craftIRC-tags: []
            color: PURPLE
            nickname: Notify
            permissions:
                speak:
                - Admins
                - RoyalGuard
                join: []
            message-format: '{default}'
            worlds: []
            password: ''
            lists:
                bans: []
                moderators: []
            options:
                hidden: true
                shortcut-allowed: true
                auto-join: true
                local: false
                cross-world-chat: true
                join-messages: false
                forced: true
    Thanks!

It is kinda trivial also because I don't use censor the way its intended ;-) However i'll do this anyway:
    1. The version of HeroChat, Permissions and CraftBukkit you are running.
      HeroChat = 4.8.6, Permissions = 2.5.5, CraftBukkit = #617
    2. Detailed steps explaining how to reproduce the error
Putting a third word to censor in the config file causes the chat to crash completely while format is
correct. Even with or without spaces in either of the words. When I only do 2 words to be changed it works just fine.Eventually leads to a 'Connection Lost - Timed out' error
    3. A link to pastebin or pastie with the FULL error found in your server log.
There is no error related to HeroChat to be found in the server log.
    4. A link to pastebin or pastie with your Permissions and HeroChat configs.

    @DThielke

Could this be HeroChat, or just an incompability? Happens only one one of my two servers (mostly same setup), and on the one that has the very latest HC. It also runs McMyAdmin, the other doesnt. That's more or less the only difference: Latest HC and MCMA (b617).

    Code:
2011-04-04 13:17:11 [INFO] msg: where should the kennels be?
2011-04-04 13:17:11 [INFO] msg: where should the kennels be?
2011-04-04 13:17:11 [INFO] [HeroChat] [Glo] [VetOp] Yearly: where should the kennels be?

This is in the Console, in game you only see the main sentence, also in IRC via CraftIRC. Happens for everyone speaking, it always gives those two 'msg:' things.

Indeed, log is being spammed atm.
Also, I found out HeroChat is the reason my McMyAdmin commands no longer work
like /lookup and such, every other mod command works fine just not from MCMA for some reason.

EDIT: according to people @MCMA could be because HeroChat forces all chat to go through the mod first which confuses McMyAdmin or summit, imma nub when it comes to programming any kinda of java so i'll just say "uhuh".

I've enjoyed HeroChat so much <3 would be a shame if i'm forced to choose between 'mods' so to speak :(

The console spam is completely unrelated to MCMA. I had accidentally left a few debug lines in from testing censors. Sorry about that.

@inviktus, read the Censors section of the installation wiki.

Is there any way to override the default-local-distance setting ?

I need several local chatrooms to :
/whisper hey (talk to anyone à 2 blocks)
hey (talk to anyone until 100 blocks)
/shout hey (talk to anyone at 300 blocks)

    for my RP server.

    Hey,
Nice plugin! Best out of all the chat plugins I've seen.
I was wondering if you could make an option to channels that would send a message to ALL other channels. This would be useful since I would like to make a channel that would be a NOTICE channel. To send a message to everyone. This would be better since I don't really like the essentials broadcast command. I dont even know if you can configure it.

I hope you will think about my idea.

    Thanks a lot,
    ~NuclearPaws

Wouldn't it make more sense to just create an actual NOTICE channel that everyone is forced to be in, but only you can speak in?

I seem to be seeing an issue where channels with groups assigned to them aren't being saved to the joined-channels list in the individual players files. e.g. with the default Staff channel.

With cb617, Permissions 2.5.5, HeroChat 4.8.9 and default HeroChat config files

My staff groups are assigned to the staff channel under 'join' in the config file. They all are in the channel who list. But if a /reload is done, they all get kicked out. I rejoin the staff channel, and do a /ch who, and no one is else is in it.

If those that were kicked out had the staff channel as the focus, they then type something in the chat bar and they will auto join again. But they will not see others typing in the staff channel until they do that.

If they had another channel as the focus, and try to use the shortcut to chat in the staff channel, they get a "you are not in that channel" error.

There is similar behavior if my staff and I log off and and then back on.

I also see similar behavior when using /ch reload

it would be great if we can define a shortcode for the {world} aprameter to such as w for world, n for nether etc.
