    Hello

    1. I still use Bukkit 1.2.5-R4.0 and my only need for change would be a better performance. I dont need any new MC features, its all about speed. I have a local server here, only for me. As discussed here before, Bukkit/MC general performance went lower and lower. I didnt check for several months, how is it now with recent stable version? What about FPS and render distance? Better/equal/worse? Just curious.

    2. Why is MC/Bukkit performance so bad and will this improve? I think my render distance today is about 200 blocks, that radius around me I guess. I calculated that my PC must render about 320k blocks (incl. not visible ones). Unfortunately, this is not true, there are "holes" in my world, even if I dont move, popping up and disappearing again. Why is this so? Why is it so difficult to render such a "simple" game like MC with modern hardware? CPU power doubles all 18 months, does that mean, i can render more blocks in the future? Imagine one could render completely an area about 1k x 1k x 256 blocks, kinda big number. Will this be possible any day? What do you think?

PS: and why do I need stupid mods like OptiFine for multicore support? I think because the game is based upon chucks, it should be possible to delegate this work to however many cores available. Will this be done any day?

Have fun discussing, i am curious.

    Thanks

I use spigot as well and that is what increased my performance. I haven't seen my server drop below 20 tps other than like 10 seconds after start up.
