It seems Bukkit is now as bad as hMod, although it says its the best, the minecraft.net provided server is way better then Bukkit. It has less lag (thats about it). Bukkit lags tons but I love it for the commands and plugins. So my friends say that Bukkit is just like hMod its super laggy and buggy? Anyone agree or know how I can make it so less laggy?

Anytime you add more funcationaility with plugins, its going to use more resources. With the proper setup of the server OS, hardware and tweaking your settings in java, bukkit runs great, even with a lot of people on it. If you don't have those three things done correctly, it won't.

If you want some help with your setup, you will need to give a lot of details about it.

It's beta server for beta game, get the point?

indeed, but bukkit is almost 5 months old, they have much planned for it still

(I just redid Bukkit and well I have no plugins at all, and yet its still laggy, and has block destruction lag.)

How bout you post that problem rather than complain about bukkit in a condescending way?

    Os and system specs?
    Java Version?
    Bukkit Version?

You have to keep in mind that bukkit is working with obfuscated messy half hacked together Notch code to start with. It's amazing it works as good as it does.

If a base bukkit install lags then it's your setup that sucks, not Bukkit.

dont feed the troll, more reason to NOT run a server unless you have some kind of idea on what you're doing.

    Yeh seriuosly. The problem is:

    a.) weak server

b.) you don't know how to manage a server.

    c.) gameboy color

What would one need to tweak in Java to make a server run better? Keep in mind that I know nothing, and only have a server for my nephews and I. ;p

Run your server with this prompt buddy:

    java -server -Xmx1024M -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -XX:+AggressiveOpts -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui
It messes with the Java settings and makes your server run smoother so we can move away from iPhysX's Gameboy! ;)
