   Also getting semi-popular YouTubers to start a series on it (often for money) is a good idea. People love playing on servers if a YouTuber they like is playing it. Though as Tim stated, originality is key. It is more important than anything else, and will attract players. Have something that is rare, or that other players don't even have.
