Best OS for mc server

    Hi, my server provider has these OS available.. Which one is the best for a server ?
    Server info: Ram:4096 MB
    proccesor: 250 GHz
    internet: 100 mbps

    CentOS 4.7, 32 bit
    CentOS 5.2, 32 bit
    Debian Etch 4.0, 32 bit
    Debian Etch 4.0, 64 bit
    Debian Lenny 5.0 32 bit
    Debian Lenny 5.0 32 bit
    Debian Lenny 5.0 32 bit
    Debian Lenny 5.0 64 bit
    Debian Squeeze 6.0 32 bit
    Debian Squeeze 6.0 64 bit
    Ubuntu 8.04 32 bit

    Might wanna get someone else's input but if it were me I'd go with Ubnutu

    Do you have a 64bit or 32bit system? You can't just use 64bit if you have a 32bit only computer...

    Thats the list the my vps provider gave me... So both 64 and 32 should work.

    Personally I'd go with Debian Squeeze 64, it's similar to Ubuntu minus the bloatware.

    I wouldn't go with an old ubuntu build from april 2008, it may have security issues that have been fixed in recent distributions.

    Make sure that if it's a self-managed server, you download a firewall (e.g. CSF [google 'linux CSF iptables firewall'])

    ...and no way do you have a 250GHz processor (Unless you're a mad scientist working for the US military), I suggest you check that out.
