No. That would be unfair for people who don't want said settings when they're op. Migrating between permission systems is really quick and easy.

Yes, but I've got also 80+ users with all different nodes.

    example config file
    Code:
    fullon:
    /listninjafakeplugin hide
    /tellninja hide
    fulloff:
    /listninjafakeplugin show
    /tellninja show

Basically it allows you to make a macro so that you could add/merge other plugins with this one, so you don't have to touch code. Sorry if this is rather unclear though.

    EDIT1-4: Grammar/spelling fixes.
EDIT5: Forgot to say this, wonderful plugin. Will definitely use on my current server once it stops crashing every-other day.

I didn't mean you were unclear, I was just honestly curious what plugins existed, to see if it was something that would make that sort of feature have a purpose. If no plugins existed for this, there'd be little point in including it. :)

I don't mean to sound like a complete idiot here, but I can't seem to get this plugin to work, or at the very least if it is working, mobs can still and do target me... I'm wondering if I'm using the wrong permissions system or something, or what. Also, I've actually blocked myself from being able to use this plugin with bukkit's "built-in" permissions system and I can still use it...So, not sure what I've managed to screw up...

    1) Does saying /vanish do anything?
    2) What permissions system are you using?
    3) Does that permissions system use superperms?

    1) /vanish says I have vanished, and the console says that I have vanished
    2) I've tried 3.x and Permissions Bukkit
    3) I think Bukkit's built in permissions is superperms, so I guess so

What permissions have you given yourself, then?

    Shivanous

Shoot, sorry, didn't see your reply. Well, I tried giving myself several of the individual ones....
    vanish.vanish
    vanish.see
    vanish.nofollow
And then I just tried the standard

To confirm that it's definitely not a permissions issue, install PermTest (my little permission testing plugin) and do /permtest vanish.nofollow

    Now, I sleep.

Okay, I'll give it a try.
    Sleep well.

*Facepalms* About my not meaning to sound like an idiot, apperently I am XD it seems all my problems were caused by my lack of understanding the coding of the superperms system. I was under the belief that I had to put "permissions." infront of every permission...
Short version: Problem solved. Thanks alot

Might just be me, but the download doesn't seem to be working.

Mistakes happen. Glad you got it sorted out :)
Just tested, works for me from two geographical locations.

Yep, at least I learned something from it though. And now that it is working, may I say: This is bloody brilliant!
Question: How difficult would it be to add an optional (and configurable) toggle button for people who have the spoutcraft launcher? (Like the Spoutbackpack for example where you press b to bring up a backpack screen)

    Thanks for the compliment :)

When I have some more free time, I'll look this up.

    You're welcome.
Okay, I don't think it will be too hard to implement as you already have the vanish command toggle it rather than two seperate commands for on/off, which as far as I know would make it easier to code in a button toggle.

@Shivanous yeah that should make it easier. I just haven't actually looked at the spoutcraft side of things at all. This week I'm pretty busy with things not involving minecraft, so I'm spending much less time on coding. But maybe this weekend I'll have time to throw some things together. I love adding new features to small plugins, as it gives me greater experience.

Also, I'd like to announce that the next version will support (optionally, disabled by default) user hiding methods for the Essentials plugin, to make it harder to notice a /vanish'd player is on the server if you happen to use that plugin. If you don't use Essentials that's fine, this won't affect you at all :)

If you folks have any plugins at all that you use for hiding users from any system, please let me know and I can add optional hooks for those plugins as well.

Well, the spout backpack plugin source might be able to give you some idea of how to implement it, probably. Yeah, I know the feeling, I've not had much in the way of time to spend on minecraft lately myself. Well, I did have another interesting idea, but I really don't know how well it would work, or if it would even be possible...
Essentials and I get along about as well as a porcupine in a balloon factory.

this wont work for anyone other than the OP on my server, even with the permissions properly set on Essential's Group Manager.

Why not just go with something like Permissions or group manager that has been around since Alpha?

Permissions continuity is definitely the biggest problem with bukkit.

The new "superperms" is the system created by the bukkit team itself. It is designed to remove the issues that Permissions and GM have had. This new system is going to stay the standard, on a very much permanent basis. So, it's a one-time upgrade from older plugins to the new system and is well worth it.

Tradition is never a rational reason for not updating, and I will not support the older systems that are quickly becoming outdated. Thus, I won't support something that's "been around since alpha" unless it has been updated to support the current standard. I love car analogies, so: I am only supporting hybrid vehicles, your steam-powered car isn't going to work here. :)

sweet deal, it looks like I'm going to have to sit down some time and switch my servers over to a new permissions system :/

Well but the new car is way too expensive so I will stay with my steam-car until it falls apart ;)

To continue the analogy, your car is rusting over and the brakes are starting to fail, and the cost to replace them is more than the cost to get a new car. :p

Really, choosing a super-perms supporting plugin and migrating to it is very easy :)

I can vouch for that, though frankly I'm still heavily reliant on Permissions 3.x, though I am slowly moving over as my plugins begin supporting superperms.

STUPIDEST STAEMENT ON THIS WHOLE GOD DAMN THREAD. STOP TURNING EVERYTHING INTO BUKKIT'S PLUGINS!

    /rant.

No seriously. Why not support Permissions. Everything works with it, it works fine. Why does bukkit feel the need to create a completely new plugin, and transfer everything over to that? It makes no sense.

Uh, every plugin on this entire site is a bukkit plugin. Furthermore, bukkit didn't create a new plugin. They created a standard, built into the system, so that we don't have to rely on an externally managed plugin to handle permissions. Plenty of plugins by people not on the bukkit team have been created and handle the new "superperms" system fantastically.

Please, look things up before turning that capslock on. It just makes you look bad otherwise.

I'd be happy to help you transition to any of the new plugins that support superperms such as pEX and permissionsbukkit. Just give me your old permissions file(s)

The transition is not the hard part. I can transition just fine. its just that the thing is 3x more complicated than permissions ever was. Until the plugin gets simplified use instructions, and the stuff actually makes sense as to how it works (VERY poorly documented for the average joe to understand) I have almost not a clue what I am doing with it.

Ok. Could you describe what you have trouble with? I'm sure I could help :)

Its not having trouble. its just not understanding really. There is no way to give one person permission to access everything without giving them Op or taking a while to go through and set it up. Correct?

I read that somewhere that there is no just '*' node. You have to do each plugin individually.
