Mobile Admin for Minecraft (Android Client + Plugin):
    Version: v3.2.5
    Client Version: v3.2.7

Mobile Admin for Minecraft allows you to administer common server properties, users, plugins and even chat right from your Android phone! Mobile Admin consists of two parts: a plugin (server) and an Android application (client). The server requires a username and password to connect which are specified in MobileAdmin.properties (stored in plugins folder).

    Current Versions:
    • Client - 3.2.8 (Requires server 3.2.3)
    • Server - 3.2.5 (Requires client 3.2.3+)
    DevBukkit:
Mobile Admin for Minecraft also had a DevBukkit page.
    http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/minecraft-mobile-admin/

    Free vs Paid:
In the spirit of Bukkit and its licensing, the free version of the client supports (and will continue to support) native Bukkit commands and API calls. The client and plugin are provided completely free without advertising support. I will continue to add features where I see a place and purpose for them and as Bukkit adds more features.

The paid version of the client adds real-time server chat functionality and third party plugin support (which IMHO is outside the scope of free Bukkit support and helps me maintain this project, servers, time spent, etc...)

    PayPal and Non-US Users
No Credit Card? No Android Market Support? No problem! Mobile Admin for Minecraft is also available via the SlideME third party Android market via the following link: Mobile Admin for Minecraft | SlideME

No problem man, over about 11 minutes of constant chat with somebody on my server, I used 1.81MB of bandwidth, though that was also with a few other apps running in the background that refused to stay shut down haha. When you're not viewing/using chat, it only probs the server for it's stats I think every 15-30 minutes, so the bandwidth used depends highly on how much constant use the app gets and for what you're doing with it. Just having the widget loaded up is a minimal drain on bandwidth.

I hope that helps you. :)

First, I just wanted to publicly let everyone know how awesome I think khamseen_air is.
I do not know him nor is he officially involved with Mobile Admin, but he has taken it upon himself to assist me in keeping this page alive, questions answered, and even go above and beyond to do things like the data usage analysis for mrgreaper.
My hat is off to you khamseen_air, you've helped me and others a great deal.

Secondly, mrgreaper, some more in depth info about data usage.
The chat panel downloads the whole chat log every time, every 3 seconds and only while you're looking at the chat tab.
I do intend on updating this to hopefully only update what's new since the last poll but haven't found a solid solution just yet.
I also plan to add a refresh speed option as well as a clear chat log option which should help reduce data usage as well.
Regarding the widget, it currently only polls for new info every 30 minutes and is a fairly light payload.

im not having much joy with the widget, and i have had two force closes :( and the the player number and time display have only worked once... asn the red light is on often

my sony experia play should handle it, but im using (at the time craftbukkit 1124 so bugs are to be expected and i wont judge it too harshly till we get an rb

please restrict the bandwidth on the chat log! that could get nasty fast, and is the main reason for buying the plugin

other then the bugs its pretty good thankyou and you owe the sale to khamseen_air (hope he is well commissioned!! :) )

hmmmm after being at work and using it to chat for half hour my usage is 20megs thats a lot higher then i expected, add to that the fact i still cant get the widget to work and im not very impressed. i shall reserve judgement widget wise till im on an RB and uve updated, BUT you must work on that bandwidth issue, perhaps get it to send the chat log displaying the last 10 lines of chat to the phone (stored as data on the sd) and appened new lines to that when ever the chat tab is open (deleting them from the server text file at the time) also having the option to remove so and so has joined so and so has left, would help save a few k after all we have a player list :)

Regarding the widget issue, I've seen similar problems when people add the widget multiple times or try to add the widget, cancel then add it again.
Unfortunately the only way I know to resolve it is to uninstall/reinstall.
Its worth giving it a shot. :)

no offense to the plugin developer but the third party map support is just a browser window, it even says in the config if you dont have a map you can place any url and the map tab will open that instead... while at first i thought that was extremely cheeky to do for the paid version, it does have the beniefit of allowing you to use any map link.

that seems to have stablised the widget thank you, though the app has force closed a few more times and it is the bandwidth issue that is major important to fix!

In the latest dev builds after MC 1.8 i can see the chat, and chat myself from the app. So it seems for me in the apps chat....but the players do not get the messages.

    same

at the mo if i was to rate the app it would be 2 out of 5
the bandwidth, the force closes and the fact you only allow dynmic map in paidverson (when really all your doing is opening a browser pane to it !) really make me rgret buying it...and now the chat dont even work :(

Haters gonna hate. Every works fine for me. I freaking love this app. Lets me do so much more for my server.

    umm no
the reason for purchase was to be able to chat with online players while im at work or simply away from a computer as using a remote ssh terminal was annoying and used a fair bit of bandwidth. well the chat function uses huge bandwidth, it also at the moment not work, i can read whats said but my messages are not visible in server
**fixable by not caching as much chat, and only appending new lines when it is open, similier to how if you log in you dont see the last hours worth of chat just whats happening then and thier, also losing the so and so has joined has left etc would shave a few k off not much but it all helps**

the dynamic map, well stating dynamic map support when in fact all it is a browser pane! as paid only feature is a little like robbery sorry but it is no different to the bookmark i have for dynamic map on my phone
**put it in the free app and lose the line that says third party plugin support for things like dynamic map...im sorry thats just false advertising**

it also force closes on me with alarming frequency, i thought perhaps my phone was unstable so i set it back to factory defaults (a complete hard reset) and it still does it
**lower your price untill the app is stable, i say this not for my self as i have already paid but for others **

also i have not rated it yet as i feel thier is capacity to fix it.

so its not a haters gonna hate, its a dissatisfied customer is gonna be express why he is dissatisfied. ok, or you wont to attack me more?

i simply dont like how people decide that if someones opinion differs from thier own they are free to call them names and belittle thier opionion, im happy for you the application is everything you need it to be, but i have expressed why and how it has let me down. thats not an unresonable thing to do. i had to use the chat again last night after posting my message, to resolve a dispute, it took maybe 30 minutes but used nearly 45meg!

    1. I plan to address the chat bandwidth issue in the very near future.
    2. I'm sorry to hear chat is not working in 1.8 but you have to expect issues when using dev builds. I'm not going to spend my time on fixing issues that may not even be mine in the first place. When the next RB comes out, I will ensure that the app functions as expected and address any issue if/when they arise.
    3. You're correct that dynmap is just an integrated browser, but it does add a convenience to have it integrated. I will gladly add support for other map plugins as long as they are web enabled. Integrating other map types would be costly and is above and beyond the scope of what Mobile Admin is intended to do.
    4. If you're getting FC's, it would be helpful to know when and what you're doing at the time to help me issolate them. Just saying the app crashes a lot doesn't help, especially because it never FC's for me and the majority of other users. Anything to help me isolate an area of code would be helpful.
Lastly, thanks for all the support, positive or negative.
Only through feedback and communication can I improve the app.
I will prioritize issues and address them as soon as I can (spare time is slim these days)

And you are entitled to your opinion. I'm merely lightening the mood, since you came off as angry and upset. I was attempting to show you how you were getting so upset over something as trivial as this. And to point out, you really should have gotten unlimited data or at least a large data plan.

only one network here in the uk offer "unlimited" and they have very poor signal strength .... sadly 750 megs is considered large allowence for a phone here. mobile net is a bit of a joke in the uk

Most force closes are when I click load the app up from the applet for example to see the players it will load the app but the screen will be black and viola the app has crashed and xperia play tells me its not responding do I want to forceclose... If I wait it stays frozen. The bandwidth is my main issue though as after 2 or 3 attempts the app will load but I have used 200 megs since the 19th and this is the only new app!

    I just published version 3.1.
This version changes how the chat and console screens check retrieve new messages and should greatly reduce overall bandwidth usage.
The screens ocasionally will download the last 50 lines of chat or server log, but on if the app or screen goes out of memory.
Otherwise, it will only update any new lines since the screen last checked.
If the number of lines since the last check are greater than 50, it will only download 50...
I will make this number configurable via the client side in a future release.
Please note, this update does also require the updated plugin.

Also, I added some extra error handling in the players adapter in an attempt to minimize force closes related to the player screen.

Please let me know how these changes affect your bandwidth and if you see fewer (hopefully none) force closes.

    Thanks!
    - Mike

Also, I just wanted everyone to know why I reacted to this issue so quickly and have yet to get to other much older requests.
I was unaware, if not simply ignorant of the sheer amount of data the chat and console functions were using.
Given that all major U.S. carriers are moving to tiered data plans, and many European/Asian carriers with their data caps, I felt this particular issue was a gross oversight on my part which could cause heavy users of these functions to incur penalties far greater than the purchase amount of the app itself.
To all involved in this particular topic/discussion, please give 3.1 a try and let me know if the latest changes help and if possible, by how much.
    Thanks!
    - Mike

I'll check it out after Bukkit updates to an official 1.8 RB release.

Also I personally never saw a large amount of data from the app, but I probably most definitely have a smaller server.

I will also use this tool and see how things look.
I have noticed that during screen on/off there is a small amount of data usage as the app wakes up and goes back to sleep.
I will look into this but it's somewhere in the order of 3k/1k per wakeup.
Also, I noticed you said you use the home button.
I almost always exit all apps via the back button.
I'll try to change my habits and see how this changes data usage. :)
Lastly, if you wouldn't mind, please create me a user on your server and PM me the details so I can see how data usage looks on a larger, more active server.

were far from a large server thats why the usage amazed me so much (we peeked at 13 users online the other day but average around 3)

i just used it ti check the user count and 3 online at mo...checked usage at same time, been on mobile net 1 hour 40 minutes usuage recieved 87.64kb sent 16.98kb much much much more acceptable ! could it of been swapping chat in the background last night?

Gotcha in regards to the server size.
I have no users on mine as I just use it for dev testing and don't really know anyone playing MC. haha.
Perhaps I should open my server up. :)

Sounds like the data is staying pretty light but the heavy hitter is the chat.
I'd be surprised if it was idling on the chat screen all night as the app detects when the screen is turned off and quits the current session.
Perhaps that isn't functioning correctly on your phone.
I watched my server console in debug mode last night and verified that it certainly does stop when the screen is off, at least for me.

The widget only updates every 30 min (or on certain events like opening the app, user screen, setting the time, etc...) and is a fairly small payload.
Chat updates every 3 seconds currently and as it was written before, was grabbing 50 lines of chat every 3 seconds.
It should now behave much better, getting only the newest lines of chat and I have some further optimization I'd like to try in 3.1.1.
Please keep me posted on the data usage throughout the day and week and I'll do my best to keep it as light as possible.

Lastly, have you seen any FC's in the user screen lately?
I made some changes there that I'm hoping will keep it from crashing when loading user images.
