In the past this program saved my single player world. Recently some friends and I started a server. After some chunk errors on the first map we migrated over and started another one. We had put a few weeks or so into this latest world. But then trouble started.

Last night we had massive chunk errors we had seen some previously but nothing that made it unplayable. Parts of buildings were elsewhere, octopi were reported to have swam through the skies. Frame rates dropped to about nothing. Completely unplayable.

Thought I'd give Chunkster a whirl. Sadly while it did detect and fix some errors there is still no way to get back to our main area as frames per second become nonexistent once I approach it from the spawn and I see some chunk problems that were worse than before. Running it a second time only scans but fixes nothing. I also deleted and replaced the dat files from an earlier backup to avoid damaging the seed. I had also created a new world and migrated the region and other folders in there but that didn't fix it either. Nothing. I had read somewhere that Chunkster can't repair maps made after or during 1.8. Is this true?

    Anything else I can do?

I'll throw the world up at: <Edit by Moderator: Redacted mediafire url>

Would someone be able to help us out? This map is just the initial version I had after I tried running Chunkster a few times before I went in depth with anything else.

Base area is towards the setting sun past some unsightly markers and a hut.

i have read this ENTIRE THREAD and seen some guys with my problem but NO ONE has said a solution to it. it always seems to be ignored so I will bring up again myself.

no matter how or where i put the Chunkster.jar file (tried in server root folder, plugins ect) I ALWAYS get this error

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I watched both videos on it in this thread and followed them both TO THE LETTER, same result. I downloaded the txt file here and edited it to match my locations, again SAME RESULT, it is driving me insane! My worl is in ...bukkit/world

so the example shows me using the jar file from the server root folder (being the bukkit folder)

I am on WinXP SP3 running a 32 bit system, java works fine and is reconized. Any help would be AWESOME, server runs fine now as long as no one enters the bad chunk, when they do, CRASH :(

one last question is this a plugin or a program? because plugins need to be in the plugin folder and dont work until you run your server once with them in there, is that something I need to do prior to making this work, or is it a stnad alone program? if so what are all the other files in the zip for and where do they go. The instructions in the readme txt are VERY poorly written and vague :(

    -------EDIT-----USAGE ERROR FIXED!

found it on my own just playing around, its simple but yet no one bothered to mention it in this entire thread >.<

    you need to do this

    cd C:\Documents and Settings\Dave\Desktop\bukkit
    java -jar Chunkster.jar world world
    pause

    save as bat file.
after the CD put your server folder directory, the root folder of your server
after chunkster.jar type your world name TWICE to get it to scan for those who where getting this error, its an easy thing to overlook and no one mentioned to do this. Hope I helped someone

Mmm.. I'm using Windows and I can't make it work! This is what I do:

    Code:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Martín\Mis documentos\minecraft_server>java -jar Chunk
    ster.jar "world"
chunkster: region pointer repair utility v0.1
    usage: java -jar Chunkster.jar <world directory>
I already tried with world, 'world', "world", <world>, but it seems like its not working... How can I make it work?

Me too. It seems to just be telling me how to use it.
    More info:
    craftbukkit-0.0.01-SNAPSHOT.jar in /home/mcserv
    Ubuntu 11.04 desktop
    Craftbukkit 1185
World in folder within /mcserv entitled TestWorld
I type in terminal java -jar Chunkster.jar TestWorld
It replies with the above quote.
I've tried the full path from the root of the hard disk, I've tried pointing it at Testworld/Region, no success.
    Any ideas, anyone?

I read all the sites and the error:
chunkster: region pointer repair utility v0.1
    usage: java -jar Chunkster.jar <world directory>
    isnt solved yet.
    What i did:
I got at the right folder
Used several pre-did things to get this work
    I watched both yt videos
I tried java 6 and 7 (with and without direct path)
I tried Windows XP and Windows 7
Even had a look at the source code and this seems to appear at the place: "if (args.length != 2) {"
So why is this line of code in the source, seems strange to me? (Im not a java programmer)

You have to use java -jar Chunkster.jar world <world path>

You have to type the word world before the path

Oh my f***ing god, I love you man I love you so much!!!!! This program saved me 5 months of work!!!(the power went out while my server was open and it decided to corrupt...), and now it works perfectly, Thank you so much. Also my friends seem to say it's less laggy now, is that possible? I know it repairs chunks but I didn't know that a bad chunk can make it laggy? but anyway thanks again.

p.s I had to use "Java -jar Chunkster.jar filter MCjerick" (Without the quotes).

My power went out during a Minecraft session. I was running Multiverse, and within minutes of booting back up, I had a 30-some MB server.log file of errors. I thought I'd have to use a backup from 2 days ago and lose a lot of progress.
But this worked for me! I am very grateful!

Alright, I guess first things first, got it to run on my world, found a single bad chunk, looks like all is well now so thank you person for putting this thing together.

Second, for all you folks out there who are like me and saying to yourself "dude, i punched in the world direcory upside down, backwards, inside freaking out with quotes, without quotes, changed the name, changed its closely guarded self fucking image and im still getting 'usage: java -jar Chunkster.jar <world directory>' WHAT THE FUCK OVER!!!" (yeah, i said about ninety percent of this crap to myself. been a long night)

Overly long example bit later, just go use this download link posted by traviskwright back on page 12. Download it, un-rar it, change your world folders name to "world" and then run whichever chunkster start is appropriate for your system. When it finishes, rename back to whatever it was, replace it on your server and have a blast.

on a funny side note, i spent about twenty minutes trying to figure out just how the hell i was gonna make command prompt work through filezilla. I finally decided I would need four mooses, ten cans of monster kona blend, a keg monkey and the nearest satellite dish with a radius of 3 feet or greater. Then i decided it would be simpler to just download the file and upload it again when it was fixed.

Edit: Decided to go ahead and repost the link, Thanks traviskwright, you saved me a night trying to find a mid sized satellite dish.
