@fearless1333 I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. I doubt that Vanilla API will ever have as many features as Spout/Spoutcraft has or will have.
uhhh.... we will never require a client mod, as others have stated, Spoutcraft only enhances it, it isn't required...

Client API is in the works, I am making a lot of progress with it
The api for it is coming and lahwran already has stated that he will make an Addon(client plugin) for it.
That is not a released feature, it will have bugs until we release 1.1
There are some bugs, I am working on 2.0, got side tracked with Spout, I will plan to have a release within a week

That's stupid, technically it has to be GPL since it uses bukkit and Bukkit is GPL.
