Bread - sliced bread browned on both sides by exposure to radiant heat.
Radiant Heat - heat energy transmitted by electromagnetic waves in contrast to heat transmitted by conduction or convection.

So that's why I believe the toaster came first! :D

Radiant heat has nothing to do with electricity, neither does conduction or convection in this context. Your own body cools down by convection, radiant heat etc... which has nothing to do with electricity
