I would love something like this mod for bukkit: I know that not all trees will be possible (or easy enough), especially those with strange textures. What I would love to see are trees with randomly generated branches and some tall trees. Not sure this is possible.
What should possible: * Adding new tree forms growing during world generation (using a BlockPopulator or a listener for the ChunkPopulateEvent), including growing roots for bigger ones. * Making these trees grow from saplings (using a StructureGrowEvent), both naturally and by bonemeal * Making them grow even after the initial grow phase (either using an own scheduler to check on those who aren't destroyed yet, or BlockUpdateTickEvent if Bukkit ever comes around to exposing it to plugins) * Making them out of non-wood materials (trees with iron blocks for the stem and iron ore for leaves, trees with obsidian stem and lava source block leaves, bushes with some of the leaves replaced by wool, ...) What's not possible (without a client-side mod): * Making them have new materials * Making the leaves have a different colour
Without client mods: Giant Trees Terrain Control - has a custom tree option With client mods: Industrial Craft 2 - focuses on technology-related features, but also adds rubber trees, not as fancy-looking as in Trees+, but they are useful (can harvest "sticky resin") RedPower2 - also adds (very large) trees Bukkit ports are available for both IC2 and RP2 from MC Port Central. Trees++ hasn't yet been ported to Bukkit but someone is working on it.
FYI: The developer of Trees++ just finished his port to CraftBukkit 1.2.3. You can get it in the original thread (requires client mods).
This is one of my plugins about trees... http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/tree-plus/ The tree is not much vary in my plugin... Since, we can't create a new texture for tree without spout. @Edit This plugin is not updated yet... So, 1.2 server may see a error message if install...
