Mojang have just released an update for Minecraft, bringing us to Minecraft 1.1.

Along with several bug fixes, this update provides the following:
    • Bow Enchantments
    • Golden Apple recipe
    • New language translations.
    • Slightly smoothed color transitions between biomes
    • Reduced brewing time to 20 seconds
    • Added spawn eggs to creative (the colors of the eggs even look like the mobs)
    • Added world type options (currently only super-flat and default)
    • Removed collision box from ladders
    • Sheep eat grass and regain their wool
While you wait for us to release an update, check out this video for a sneak peek on what Minecraft 1.1 has to offer:

Please try and advise your users not to update or they will likely not be able to connect to your server. If you would like to help us out with the update process, you can hop on our IRC chat on irc.esper.net @ #bukkit and report any bugs you come across (both Minecraft and Bukkit bugs when we have a compatible development build out).

This is just a short announcement to let you know that we are aware of this and are working on it as I type this.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. As always, we'll have a development build out as soon as possible to support this update and will follow with an RB when we feel it is ready.

At least Bukkit doesn't push deadlines like Mojang sometimes tends to do.

And yes, replacing the craftbukkit.jar should update the server, but you may want to update some of your plugins if you have any.

edit: Some plugins love to spam the console with error messages when it's not up-to-date.

i wasnt impressed with 1.1. The sheeps are very annoying now. My server ends up having serveral dirt spots that take forever to grow back. With minecraft itself im done with for awhile. Its gotten too old and repititive. Ill go back to playing it when new ores, animals and other recipes show up. 1.1 didnt even give us devs to work with. no new plugins to make.

Your seed might have changed, but the snow/ice thing is normal.

Also, the stone missing bug is a Spout related issue.

Has anyone posted a summary reply? I couldn't read through all 8 pages of the same questions over and over. Here's an FAQ.
WHEN WILL BUKKIT 1.1 BE RELEASED?
    When it's ready. No sooner.

    CAN I GET A 1.0 MINECRAFT JAR?
Not unless you backed it up yourself. Mojang's very strict on that.

IF SOMEONE DID OFFER THEIR MINECRAFT JAR.....
First, there could be malicious mods in there that steal information. http://www.pwn9.com/content/warning-minecraft-players-account-theft-trojans-client-mods
Secondly, it's illegal. http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...rome&ie=UTF-8&q=cache:www.minecraft.net/terms (they're protesting SOPA at the moment. This is the Google cache of the page.)

    WHAT?
Read the posts above you before asking.

WHEN WILL BUKKIT 1.1 BE RELEASED?
    When it's ready. No sooner.

WHEN WILL A DEV RELEASE BE AVAILABLE?
When it's available, IRC will be the first place you hear about it. irc://irc.esper.net/bukkit

when the craft bukkit for mac 1.1 release?
Java is platform-independent. There's no 'mac' release.

Will we need new worlds to see the new content?
Yes. Or walk far enough to generate new chunks.

    Where are dev releases?
If you need it, you'll already know where to get it.

HOW DO I GET INTO IRC??
    http://wiki.bukkit.org/IRC

How do I get the dev releases working?

I'd answer more questions, but I'm going out now.

The official stance is that if you need to know, you'll know already. Join the irc channel and ask on there.

    Hey blha303,

You need to add "Why are bukkits dev builds more stable than Mojang's production builds?" It may not exactly be a "frequently asked question" but I simply must know...

I can't wait for the recommended build, it's so exciting! :) Enchanted bows are mostly what I'm going for, though I may have a plugin written to prevent sheep from eating grass outside of certain regions, perhaps faction territory in compatibility with that plugin. Otherwise, I'm checking the bukkit news forum thoroughly on a daily basis. Keep it up, Bukkit Team!

Can we expect a stable bukkit update any time soon? I don't want to whine about this, but c'mon. It's been almost two weeks, guys! Almost two weeks!

  24. There's nothing unstable about the dev builds. They just aren't recommended yet because they still have things they want to finish.

I have yet to see one report where a person didn't have SpoutPlugin.
