    Hey Bukkit forum people!

I currently run a server and ever since the 1.3 Update everything has just fallen apart.

This is the error the console throws at me before it crashes.

    Code:
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at java.util.zip.Deflater.init(Native Method)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at java.util.zip.Deflater.<init>(Deflater.java:141)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at java.util.zip.Deflater.<init>(Deflater.java:150)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.Packet51MapChunk.<init>(SourceFile:28)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.PlayerInstance.a(PlayerInstance.java:157)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.PlayerManager.a(PlayerManager.java:26)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ServerConfigurationManager.b(ServerConfigurationManager.java:210)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.h(MinecraftServer.java:339)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:253)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:366)
    2011-02-26 15:34:03 [SEVERE] Unexpected exception

I figured from the "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError" I was running out of memory, well according to McMyAdmin (Personal v 0.8.5.3 ) I have another gig of memory to use, and previously even with 25~30 people and 15+ Plugins I wasn't even using a gig of ram.

Another error I am getting(right after server loads up) is this:

    Code:
2011-02-26 15:44:27 [SEVERE] [BBROTHER] World Insert Exception
    java.sql.SQLException: database is locked
I'm not sure what to do about that, I deleted the database and hoped it would just create a new one and magically work I guess. haha

Anyways any help would be great and highly appreciated. I've got 38 Minecraft addicts waiting for this server and they will all be appreciative.

    Server Specs:
Red Hat Linux (connecting over SSH)
    2GB Ram
    McMyAdmin Personal v 0.8.5.3
    CraftBukkit #432

    Plugins:
    BigBrother 1.6.2
    Permissions 2.1
    Whitelist 2.3
    BorderGuard 2.00
    vPlayersOnline 1.4

    Thanks in advanced!!

I am experiencing the same issues only with a much smaller server, my map is 35mb and I have only 4 players but the error can occur with only 1 online.

Sever has 1gb of ram and Bukkit and McMyAdmin as above but currently has no plugins at all.

    So... bumping for advice

  3. it is advised, you buy more RAM

Anyways, Cookiebaker. When launching the jar file.

have it like this: "java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar Bukkitjarname.jar

Melon. I'm sorry, but the server will not run for a long time if you only have 1GB of RAM on the machine.

    Thanks for the reply

It ran fine prior to 1.3 without a single crash, I am not upgrading the plan to have more ram only to have the same results. I'll contact my host and ask them if they will do me an upgrade for a few days maybe to see if it will help but I really don't think it will make any difference.

Before I moved to a dedicated host I was running it on a local machine and it had only 512mb ram and it never crashed once even with 4 people logged in all in different parts of the map.

I suspect it is McMyAdmin since that is something we have in common and I tried running my server locally without it and had no problems. I'll go post on their forums.

  5. odd??? the again the java thing does have no gui.

I really don't suggest you run a server with lower than 2GB of RAM. if it worked for you, then Go ahead. i just don't suggest it.

I have almost the exact same story as you. Dedicated host with 1 GB of RAM, constantly crashing with a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError. Don't want to upgrade unless it will actually help. Ran fine before 1.3

So I wouldn't be so quick to suspect McMyAdmin.

Out of curiosity who are your hosts?

I am using Host Altitude, they are being reasonably helpful about it but I get the impression they don't have a clue what the problem is either.

Isn't outofmemory a sign of missing swap?

Well that is actually reassuring, they are being a bit cagey about it but I am glad I am not the only one. My biggest fear was that it was my world but it seems not to be the case.

Not that I long for and infraction, but for pete's sake could you just once paste the output and not elaborate on your own, there's also 32/64 bit in question etc...

32bit java cannot use more than 1.5G memory. If you have 64b Win7 make sure to actually download 64bit java (use IE 64bit or some special link).

Again, don't try to write it from your head and post the damn full message!
Http errors look like the minecraft.net authentication is down, try again later.

    Thanks to everyone who replied.

I stopped the crashing, updating to Bukkit #440 seemed to do it.. Not really sure though. It does seem like my Ram isn't clearing at all while the Minecraft server is up though.

I do suspect McMyAdmin, It ran fine before I updated it.

Anyways, thanks for the help guys!
