Plugins going Inactive?

Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, but I couldn't fine a better place for it.

Bascially I want to ask if anyone else has been noticing that a lot of the "bigger" or "more popular" plugins have been going inactive. While this is always a pain for us Server Admins (to try and find then re-config a new plugin) it is Normally ok because they are replaced. However I have also been noticing that a lot of them are not being replaced.

One of my favorite plugins is the stargate one. It had the best features and worked the best. It just recently completely disappeared from all the plugin lists, and when I went to search for a replacement, I only found half working inactive ones.

Another that just went inactive is heroic death
And another that is a huge one that appears to be inactive is WorldGuard

I am just curious if anyone else has noticed this, and maybe if anyone knows of other good plugins out there that are similar to these.
I really want to see a stargate telepotation plugin
A universal protection plugin (like WorldGuard) (if it doesn't have region protection that is fine)
Heroic Death like would be nice too.

worldguard is active I think... the stargate of Drakia got purged when Drakia got banned for good... wormhole is being still developed I think.

Heroic Death I don't know, perhaps deathtpplus could do the trick?

You can always ask in the inactive thread if somebody takes it over, pm the developer or make a plugin request referencing the old one.

One NOTE though... don't ask for a new plugin just because it isn't directly updated to a new RB.. or even interim versions..

if you are running cb you should learn (and your players too) to NOT directly update to a new version.. especially if you have a plugin heavy server.

Also, Movecraft is still alive. I know because I am in charge of it (though I am in need of some dedicated coders, so if you know any! lol)

Sometimes plugin authors get burnt out or their life circumstances change. If there is a plugin you really want to see maintained, maybe you could fork its code and keep it alive.

It seems senseless to keep rebuilding the same plugins over and over because the maintainers walk away. Instead, just pass off the code base to the next maintainer. MCStats is in its third set of hands already and Command iConomy is on its second.

 

to add to this, sometimes developers will leave when the user base doesn't read the documentation and then asks for help about something that is easily fixed/configured if you read the documentation

Stargate is one of our favorite plugins as well, and luckily it's alive and updated. You'll find it at the author's own homepage (google "stargate drakia").

multi verse is not updated and in the comments sound like it is glitching with 1597

I myself have tried multi verse on a test server and cant seem to get it to create a skyland world made a thread here

 

skylands was removed from notch iirc when he implemented the end... you need a custom generator for it.
