    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.
    • Customized modified chat. (Optional)
      • Colours, group prefixes and suffixes, nation, town, towny titles.
      • Channels for general, local, town, nation, moderator, admin and custom channels.
      • Anti-spam feature.
    • Shop plugin support. (Optional)
      • Limit shops to special Shop Plots, enhancing realism.
    • Economy plugin interaction. (Optional)
      • Supports all economy plugins.
      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.
    • All Permissions Plugins supported. (Optional)
      • Perms 2/3, GroupManager, BukkitPermissions, bPermissions, PermissionsEx, etc.
    • Multiworld Support
      • Flexible settings for every world.

    REQUIRES
    • No other plugins, but is best with Questioner, so that invitations are given by Towns and Nations to residents and towns.
    Optional
    • Questioner 0.6
    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).
    • Economy plugin of your choice.
(We no longer recommend using PEX at all. It breaks TownyPerms due to the reflection PEX performs.)
    Supported Economy Plugins
    • iConomy 5.01
    • iConomy 4/5 *
    • iConomy 6 *
    • EssentialsEco *
    • BOSEconomy *
    • Craftconomy *
    • * Requires Register.jar 1.8+ (or Vault) in your plugins folder.
    • Any Vault-capable economy plugin that supports false-player accounts. (Do not use register if your economy plugin is supported by vault.)

    just like Yurikoma said!

can you please make It so we don't need register as register won't enable when some plugins are in my server like multi-verse portals and few others that are essential for a descent server.

The problem isn't on Towny's end, you will have to remove all plugins but iConomy and Register and add each one, one at a time, until you find out which plugins aren't working with Register 1.5. You can skip testing towny, it works.

    Pastebin.com your towny config.yml.

Pastebin.com your towny config.yml, worlds.txt and the worldname.txt of the world which is giving you trouble.

Yes you can, but the latest towny dev requires the newest versions of Craftbook, not RB 1240.

Towny war isn't ready for use, it will inflate your economy drastically.

Questioner has worked fine for months. You most likely have another plugin that uses the /accept command, probably SimpleClans. You'll need to add an alias for /accept and /deny in the SimpleClans.jar's plugin.yml's commands section.

Yeah, I fixed this. And for future reference, should anyone else come to you with this problem, SimpleClans has the option to set aliases in the config.yml. There didn't seem to be any command for accept in the plugin.yml.

Is there any other requirements you can use for Nation and Town titles other then the number of residents? Such as money deposited or minimum plots claimed or something along those lines? Thanks.

Is there a new setting that my config hasn't set for warm ups? I set it to essentials: true, but it says I have to wait, but teleports me immediately anyways.

Towny's warm up, though, doesn't require the player to stand still. That makes it kind of hard to prevent pvp teleporting.

Also, is there any chance that instead of falling to ruins, the town could simply lose its protection until it is paid? It adds to the ally/rivalry game of towns.

also it dosn't like MagicSpells v1.2
    NoLagg version 1.3
    or Jail v2.0.3
NOTE this doesn't mean they are not working it juts means i am getting spammed with error messages because register is trying to make something work with it that normally it doesn't need to.

thats y i was asking if there is a way you could make towny compatible with iconomy without using register 1.5. or is there a way to notify register 1.5

and yeah it's not like it is making the plugin stop working it is just failing because it is trying to get them to work with it.

Ditch the < > on your world name.

What essentials version are you running?

Show your errors to the plugin authors, they need to update to the new register.

    who are the authors?

EDIT dw i found them http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/register/

also i found a fix for my problem. apparently people using plugins that use NarrowtuxLib have a compatibility issue but he has fixed it and posted this link https://github.com/downloads/Silthus/NarrowtuxLib-1/NarrowtuxLib.jar to the fixed version. this fixed my problems. so i thought i would post it here for others having the same problem. also you can view it on the register dev page also as he posted it there

Can someone help me, if two nations are at war, how do they get in eachothers towns? In my server, its all walled off. Can they break blocks? How do they get in? Please help.

Hmmm, pastebin.com your towny config.yml and your server startup please.

Towny war turns on block-destroying in all towns, it's unbalanced and will flood your economy with money. Don't use it right now.

EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.

The "plot overhaul" is going on right now, next up is the "war overhaul" which is probably a month away.

I appears that using '/town unclaim' deletes all doors, torches, redstone etc. even with 'block_delete' set to false...

  24. Should be working. Did you disable it in the worlds txt file or just in the config?
    These settings are per world.

Hmm, seems a little bit counter-intuitive to have to look in the data folder to change a setting such as this IMO.

  26. It's generally a setting you configure and forget.

So we have a bit of a problem. We were testing Towny and when we finished we deleted our towns using the admin command /town delete (townname). Then when I tried to go and claim land it says I'm still a member of my town now called ruins. I cannot leave that "town". We tried /resident delete to delete my resident data, but we get a large error message. Another person went to claim land and it told him that he is too far away from the other towns, an error we've never encountered even though there are no more towns. Here is the error message:

    Code:

It doesn't hook BOSEconomy. Did you code register into this plugin properly?
I'm downloading the source and editing it for my server.

Easiest thing would be to use the towny backups to find a version of the data folder from before you deleted anything. If you dont need any of the old towns just delete the entire data folder and Towny will create a new one.

To use BOSEconomy with Towny you need Register.jar 1.5 in your plugins folder (download link is in the first post,) and using_register:true in your Towny config.yml.

What if this were to occur when we did have towns that we wanted to keep? Basically, this happens every time we delete a town. Either the resident of the town is forever stuck in the city ruins or when the go to claim new land it says they are too close to other towns that don't exist.

  31. Is there option somewhere to choose which mobs will spawn in town area? So far I have only found that you can turn mobs on but not choose witch will spawn. Alternative solution would be option that prevents endermen stealing my walls...
