Hi! I made myself a server, got a few active players on it, and I want to know which plugins I MUST have. I have a 1.8 server, but most of the 'must have' plugins will probably get updated I'm going to get Essentials, an anti grief and hack/cheat plugin, a permissions plugin... But what should I get further?... Also, doesn anyone know if someone is develloping a plugin which allows you to have 2 (or more) worlds, and then have 1 world in survival mode and 1 in creative, and link them with a portal? Like with multiverse? You can't have 1 world creative and 1 survival with multiverse i think... Please comment! ~chris0744
This is different for every kind of server. If yours is a a freebuild kind of server where you just build, you should check out this Plugin: World Guard, Lockette, Permissions, Big Brother. These plugins prevent griefing. Aside of that ones, you might need some other plugins for other kinds of servers. A RPG server would need a NPC plugin such as NPCX. A server for wars might need a plugin for cannons. You get the story.
O yeah, forgot about BB Lockette and worldguard And yes I get it vivanewvegas. I'm not 100% sure what kind of server its going to be.. I think freebuild
Essentials has its pros and cons. Pros: It mashes everything together for admins who are too lazy to set up unique abilities individually Cons: It's fat, takes a lot of space, and breathes heavily, causing a whole slew of diseases on server resources.
So, what plugins should I get? bukkit is updated, there is a new RB. Can i use the build 1060 version of worldguard and iconomy with the latest RB 1085? And should I use logblock instead of BB?... And should I get essentials?.. Still don't really know which plugins I should get
I guess you should at least get CommandBook, WorldEdit, WorldGuard, HawkEye (or BigBrother/LogBlock) and PermissionsEx (or any other permissions manager).
But worldguard and bigbrother aren't updated yet to 1085.. can i still use them? (havent checked any of the other plugins you named yet though, they might not be updated either)
Can you provide a reason why? Or did you just read someone else's opinion and repeat it? You can get the dev builds of WorldGuard and WorldEdit at www.sk89q.com They work for 1.8 just fine. EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
There is a dev build availible for LogBlock.. It works well.. You can find a link close to the top of their forum post. I recommend using LogBlock until Guardian is released. I use the essentials plugin so I have essentials economy, its updated, and works. And about essentials.. If you use all of its features (not including Protect and Chat) it is worth it.. but don't use it if you only want homes and warps.. cause it comes with so much more.
It conflicts with lots of plugins and tries to be a jack of all trades. (whilst being a master of none)
so.. what should i get now? Lets make a list Logblock Worldguard WorldEdit Commandbook PermissionsEx LWC Anything else I should add or change?..
Once again ... this is just a statement with no data to back it up... This is all I ever see about essentials.. Essentials is a good plugin ( Not including Chat and Protect - Yuk ) Problem is... Ppl are using it for 30% of its features and combining it with other plugins... and saying that it is too heavy. If you use Essentials.jar.... You need to be using all of the features.. Not just 1 and 2.. If you are using Essentials you should not be using Iconomy... or chest shop plugins.. All of these things are inside Essentials.. Essentials is a huge package.. If you only have need of Essentials warps and homes.. Then you are using the wrong plugin.
