Recently I have purchased a ram upgrade to my Mac Mini. I have gone from 5gb to 8gb. I though this woul allow me to dedicate more ram to the bukkit server. I used to run it with 2.5gb. After switching that up to 3gb I seemed to be reciveing the Cant keep up message all the time. I switched back down to 2.5gb and the message has stopped popping up constantly. Does anyone know why giving the server more ram would make this message pop up so frequently.

You can come check out the server at spooncraft.net

List of plugins on the server - BananaChunk, ChestShop, DailyBonus, Essentials, GroupManager, EssentialsProtect, EssentialsSpawn, HeroicDeath, iConomy, LazyRoad, MineBackup, MinecartManiaCore, NarrowtuxLib, nChat, Spout, Stargate, Turnstile, WorldEdit, WorldGuard, Permissions, LWC, SimpleRestart, Citizens, NoRegen

what does your .bat script look like? Is your minimum Heap Size the same as your maximum? If it isnt I would set them to the same..

If your max is 3 gigs.. then also set your minimum to 3 gigs.

-Xmx3072M -Xms3072M Is how it should look.

Sorry it seems that I have got it wrong, It seems that It only happens when I am playing on the server on the same machine, But before I installed the RAM I only got the cant keep up signs when I was worldediting or a backup was taking place. I was able to play on the server. Could installing the ram have an affect on me being able to play on the server?

This makes sense... When you play the game from the same machine the server is running off of, you can really decease performance of the server.

World edit operations take up lots of ram as well..

If you still keep getting these overloaded msgs.. You can change a setting in WorldGuard and you console will stop outputting these to you.

Hmmm, But before I installed the extra ram. The server would run fine. Even with me on it.

Even with me playing on the server at the same time they dont appear to be experiencing lagg. So does it not really matter?

If you PC can handle it probably not.. I ran my server off my home PC for about 3 months.. And with 15 ppl on the server I could still play no problem.

It really depends on what is going on in the background of you PC.. You should use a CPU and Ram monitor.. to see your system load.
