ice randomly generating in an ocean

Ice just started randomly generating in an ocean on my server and it won't go away even if I use the /thaw command

 

I had the same thing happen. Do you have a backup from before this happened? I fixed it by copying the level.dat and level.dat_old from the old world folder over into the new one. None of the structures on my map were affected and after a final /thaw, everything was good. While my map wasn't negatively affected by this, I don't know the finer points of the process so be sure to make a backup before trying it.

 

I'm having this exact same problem. It seems to have occurred after my server crashed randomly. I don't have a backup (the map was new, but lots of work had been done on it). Is there any fix for this?

Not only is it the oceans, but the entire world is being covered in snow now. So much for Minecraft global warming >.>
