Pistons item cloning.

Are you aware that cloning items with pistons still works? Just like shown here:

Erm, I'd recommend removing that link. The devs are well aware of it, but they don't want it publicly advertised HOW to do it.

 

But server's owners should know it. I blocked sticky pistons on mine uusing item blacklisting and I recommend all admins to do the same.

 

Informing users is one thing (It's posted in the announcements that there is a dupign bug in 1.7.2 and that users should wait to update). But informing users how to do it is completely uncalled for.

 

Don't Shoot the Messenger.

 

If the messenger is the one bringing the plague then feel free to shoot them

 

I am glad he posted, i had no idea how the dupe was caused, thank you sir. Thank the messenger dont shoot him.

 

just make a plugin witch only allows ppl to place pistons where there are no adjacent pistons

 

Again, there's a difference between "You can dupe items using pistons, your server should disable it" and "Hey everyone, look how to dupe items using pistons. Server admins, you should disable them"

 

The more you know...

 

A possible solution: if player arranges pistons in "item duping" position, pop them out of the ground or even prevent player from placing last piston. But problem here could be that someone can find other arrangements that would not be blocked by this plugin and that someone could use blocked arrangement for legit non-item-duping project.
