    MineQuest - RPG System with Customizable Quests and Classes
    Version: 0.62-test
    Website:http://www.theminequest.com/
    Overview:
    MineQuest started out as a plugin to add some RPG-like progression to Minecraft. It had 8 (By default, now completely customizable) character classes (4 Combat, 4 Resource - also by default) and you gained experience by doing tasks related to the class (e.g. Warriors fight with a Sword, or WarMages cast WarMage Spells). All combat classes gained health when they went up in levels, and all classes gained related abilities at certain levels.

    An example of a custom class configuration is now available: http://www.theminequest.com/node/112

    Now MineQuest has grown to be a much bigger project than gaining abilities and extra health. It includes mobs that get harder over time based on a level adjustment (determined by active players in the server). It has built in economy(iConomy Supported)/town systems that are available if people so desire. Most likely the coolest thing so far is the quest system.

    Good Places to start in game are /minequest, /cubonomy (economy), and /quest (questing specific). Also poking around the help pages (Linked as more information below) gives some details about more advanced commands as well.

    Quests:
    MineQuest is equipped with a system that is being developed so that minecraft can have real instanced dungeons where a select party can teleport into a world that has traps, harder monsters, and special loot. When complete players are brought back to their original locations.

    These quests are completely customizable as they only load from a text file. MineQuest will search the bukkit directory for the appropriate .quest file when the quest is started. This means that anyone running a server could write a quest. Not just plugin developers!

    The spell system is nothing special, and I'm sure that others exist out there, but what really makes MineQuest unique is the complete package, dungeons and everything.

    Requirements:
    MySQL or SQLite

    Suspected Conflicts:
    Towny, Essentials Spawn, World Guard, mcMMO,
    Other plugins that modify damage/health

    You seem to be having an issue with the code.google.com site then. Here is the direct link:

    http://code.google.com/p/minequest/downloads/detail?name=MineQuest-0.53.jar&can=2&q=

    Try that and see if it goes through. or try to goto

    http://code.google.com/p/minequest/

    and see if you can see the main google code page for the project.

    Release of 0.60 will be delayed due to the minecraft update that happened today. It will be released shortly after a bukkit that supports 1.7 is out. Dev builds of 0.60 is available on www.theminequest.com for 1.6 for those of you that are overly ambitious.

    One of my players is not getting exp when mining or woodcutting and another is character lvl 16 and still with on 20 health. Has anyone ever heard of these issues before and may direct me to a solution? Thank you

    Is this only on a single player? If so it sounds like that player's DB entry is fouled somehow.

    Would you ever release the quest feature separately? Because I love the way you wrote the quest system, but I don't want my server to be based on levels and abilities. I hope you can reply to this soon :)
    P.S. Whether you do that or not, I think it would be awesome if you made it so you can start quests via NPCs.

    Asimov, you can turn off any feature that you do not want to use. If all you want is to use the quest system then you can simply turn off the leveling and item restrictions and towns and cubonomy, etc. It will require a little bit of research by you, and that is a simple matter of going back and reading the previous posts in this forum. Unfortunately I do not have sufficient time right now to go back and dig up the threads since I am at work and will be here for an undetermined time tonight.

    I will revisit this tonight if I have time and I am aware enough of my surroundings as today has been one of those days :D

    Ltan disablin by config is not the same thing. I agree with that fella i would luv to see minequests getting split up. I like the leveling system and the quest system, however i belive other plugins do the rest bettar, and even if you disable many things in config you still get many "couldnt pass event" bugs. I think this would be the most used plugin at all if it was split into 4 or 5 parts.

    should I create a questing world for this plugin?

    ltan

    iMattxC: you can create quests in your main world if you want to. There are several different methods to do this.

    I have a few different worlds that I have made just for quests, and it allows me to have different areas that the players do not get to see unless they are on a quest.

    If you haven't done so, visit http://www.theminequest.com and there are more resources there.

    Makraiz

    That is most likely your issue then.. minequest .53 hasn't been updated for minecraft 1.7
    In fact, it was designed for bukkit build 860 (look at the top of this page), which is almost 100 bukkit builds behind the one you're using. Be patient, jmonk and team will release minequest .60 when it's ready.

    I'm sorry Ziden but I have to disagree with everything you said. Besides a few micro-seconds that are unrecoverable, the ability to disable components are just as good as it being split into different pieces. If there is some configuration you believe you can achieve through separate components then let me know and then I will add it the required configuration options (without splitting into several plugins).

    In regards to the couldn't pass events they are either bugs in MineQuest, incompatibilities with other plugins, or incompatibilities with the bukkit build. I recommend that you post any of these couldn't pass events so I can look into them. There is no guarantee that splitting MineQuest into 4 or 5 parts would magically fix these bugs, programming doesn't work that way.

    Kelvorn, on the off chance that this is happening, can you check your configuration files and see if the MQ health system might be turned off? There will be an entry of:

    Code:
    mq_health_system=true # will be false if it is turned off.
    This is the only thing that I can see, configuration wise, that will force your players to always have 20 health. The default for bukkit is 20 health and you never gain any more so.

    If this is only on one player, please let us know as that means it is either in your DB or possibly a bug.

    Ltan

    Alrighty... here is a short list { I hope } of things to turn off if all you want is the quest system with NPC's a modified general.properties file's contents that should turn off everything except the quest system and NPC's. The NPC's will still be required as that is the only way currently to start quests.

    Code:
    #Tue Jun 14 10:38:23 EDT 2011
    health_spawn_enable=false
    disable_worlds=false
    skeleton_type=WarMage
    mq_health_system=false
    log_health_change=false
    town_enable=false
    track_destroy=false
    debug_enable=true
    town_protect=true
    town_edit_exception=64,77
    slow_heal=false
    starting_health=20
    town_respawn=false
    npc_enable=true
    starting_classes=Warrior,Archer,WarMage,PeaceMage,Miner,Digger,Lumberjack,Farmer
    deny_non_class=false
    half_damage=false
    track_kills=false
    mayor=[YOUR NAME HERE]

    The only other item you will need to modify is the economy.properties file and change:

    Code:
    cubonomy_enable=true
    to

    Code:
    cubonomy_enable=false
    Atleast to my understanding these changes should turn off everything except the quests and NPC's. I may have missed something and I will test it out later to make sure.

    It is set to true. I seem to be the only one actualy effected by this. My other players have 20+ but I seem to never go above 20. Sometimes I /health to see 25/20 and different values like that. I have also noticed that skeleton can not ever hit me with arrows and if another player hits me with anything but a wizard spell they will heal me. I do take fall damage though.

    I thought this had something to do with me being an OP or something. I only have Minequest, Iconnomy, Permissions, and Citizens running for "big" plugins. No type of "op god modes" or anything like that.

    If you are using MC1.6.6 yes. The first post gives all of the details. MQ0.60 will be the release that will work with MC1.7

    Installing SQL depends on which OS you want the server to run on. There is a great guide here:
    https://github.com/tkelly910/BigBrother/wiki/Downloading-and-Installing-MySQL

    If you have never learned how to use MySQL I would highly suggest you do some research before playing with too much. If you find it too hard to operate, MineQuest does support H2 SQL which works pretty well too, though with increased server load (at least on my server it worked this way).

    It sounds as though the abilities.jar file was never downloaded into your MineQuest folder. Grab this file: http://code.google.com/p/minequest/downloads/detail?name=abilities.jar&can=2&q= and place it in your main bukkit folder inside of the MineQuest folder in there. The main bukkit folder is the directory that houses the craftbukkit-0.0.1 snapshot jar, and the plugins folder as well. There should be a MineQuest folder there as well.

    Before I go into coding qeusts with this, I have a question I couldn't find an answer to on the wiki. Will I be able to like, when the player completes a quest and goes to bed he wakes up to a changed world?

    It has to do with you having the Permissions entry "*" which happens to include the permission to disable MineQuest health. Change your Permissions admin group to have something like this:
    Code:
    permissions:
        - '*'
        - '-MineQuest.NormalHealth'
