  1. Hi

In 2012, 2013 and 2014 I used to be active in the Bukkit community (this is a new account) and I used to be an active plugin developer.

I have just started playing Minecraft again and was interested in building some new server plugins, only to find out the state of Bukkit. It seems like a lot of effort to have to build the binaries manually for both Bukkit and CraftBukkit.

Are servers still using CraftBukkit in 2018 at the latest Minecraft version (1.12.2?). Is it still actively developed? Are the Bukkit APIs still up to date?

I see that there is also Sponge now, but after looking at the APIs it feels like there is a lot more work involved in making server plugins than there was for Bukkit.

    Looking forward to your responses.

@Barry_ Spigot has been updating CraftBukkit and Bukkit since the DMCA. Updates are pretty fast.

  3. The majority of people use Spigot or Sponge because they're a lot stabler, have a larger community, and as for building the binaries, you have to do that for anything due to the dmca (I think)
