    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

If you want it so that the world is protected, but any player can make a residence to build in:

    1. in config.yml, set global world build: false
    2. in default user, CreatorDefault set build: true
    3. now the whole world will be un-changable, but when someone makes a residence, that person can build on it.

I wasnt clear, I dont see the point of rentable subzones.

I have a large town subzones into blocks/lots, in addition to somd subzoned apartments and office spaces. I want to charge people a fee for building on these subzones each month: so that they can set up shops and homes in town. With the way the rent and lease system works: I cannot do that. I cannot lease out subzones, and I can understand why, but I can rent tgem put, which is what I want to do. Unfortunayely if I cant let the renters biild on the subzones , it defeats the purpose of renting lots in town. I cannot think of.any way to accomplish this with Residence or any other land protection plugin. Right now I have to manually remove their renting status and set them as the permanent owner of the subzone to let them build. Its managable for now but will become a pain as more people rent

Ahh ok. Well maybe you should ask bekvon if there can be more options for when someone rents. I'm not to sure how renting works at the moment so I can't help much. This may already be possible, I'm just not sure how.

For what I want it for, it's fine atm. As mines RPG you rent a building to stay safe (but no building) until you have enough money to buy a spot in the town :p

So you want is so you set on a rent-able Residence who can rent it. I do not believe this is a feature but it may be something you want to suggest to Bekvon.
    -DanJames

I don't so no, not at the moment. However mention this to bekvon.

Lol. Umm, so you haven't got it a second time? Try going inside a residence with tnt: false and setting off tnt :p make sure your not too attached to the building though :p and post again if you get the same error :)

Actually it could be a creeper exploding in one of the residence's with creeper: false on. because is an 'onEntityExplode' and mobs are entities.

i SUSPECT this error was the result of somebody trying to get into a bed in the nether. if you look at the code, it kinda hints at that.

Ding ding ding! Man I'm good

I placed a bed in the nether and right clicked it to explode and got these 2 wonderful errors... :) Enjoy!

Residence is clearly aware of multiple worlds since there are options in the config for controlling certain world-specific features.. However, one of them does not appear to be whether or not Residences can be purchased at all. What I'm trying to accomplish is that I want people to be able to buy residences in one world, but not in others. Is this possible today and if not, would it be possible to add this feature?

    Thanks.

I am trying to create a large residence, but I keep getting messages saying that my area size is not with my allowed limits. The limits are set to 999 north/south, 999 east/west, 127 up/down. Another user is having the same problem. It worked just fine before the updates. How might the admin and I fix this?

Tried changing the limits to 9999, but it made no difference. [2]

@bekvon a flag to allow people to break specific items would be nice. I had someone come to my house and get stuck under ice they could not break and died... then were unable to retrieve there stuff because the couldn't get back through the ice. I would like to let people break ice

it makes the bed explode, i believe that was the fix for beds (i remember someone mentioning the 'fix')
    great huh?
i've been getting similar tracebacks (posted a couple pages back) with events, i mainly get use and build errors (cant remember the event names off the top of my head)
also to re-iterate a previous question, does anyone know what version of permissions the current build of residence is compatible with?

Lol well you learn something new everyday :p I didn't know beds exploded. That would be it then.
I don't know what permissions it's compatible with, however I'm using the dev build of residence with the latest version of permissions and it's working fine

Can you go to pastebin and paste your config.
Just post the link here and I'll check it out.

looks like it's attempting to load in a blank config or something similar (NULL character)
do the config/res files exist and aren't blank?

    Blobinet

Well yes they exist. config.yml, res
    yml and res.yml.bak.

Ah well ! When I open res.yml I have hundreds of "NUL" written in white on a black bachground :

i suggest backup that res.yml and then generate a new one.

The res.yml file contains all the residences, right ? So If I make a new one every residence will have to be re-made ?

    Daniel Few

Yes it would. Thats why i said to backup. but i suggested this to see if the res.yml generates properly.
MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP FIRST :p
I take no responsibility for loss of residence
    Just to cover myself haha
