I recently had created a bukkit server I have had to tried 1.8 and ther newest version and it always says this, I can join other servers and it works fine, It says my ports are open for 25565. I can post the logs here http://pastebin.com/9HbsuDzZ and http://pastebin.com/4a7i72Nd When ever I put my external ip in the server ip= it says that it fails to bind port and I can connect using LOCALHOST but not using my external IP anyone know hhow to fix?

What Ip are you using to join the server? Are you sure you are using the external ip? Can you see the MOTD?

I can join using local host - but when I put my external IP in it doesnt let me join and no I cannot see my MODT unless ip put the LOCALHOST

Now this is strange. Are you sure the port is open? If you run your server while testing your port here, does it say it is open? If, somehow it is open, then it is your jar file/ server itself that is broken.

    What?

[Edit] If you tried messaging me on skype, please don't. All thread related topics need to stay on the bukkit forums (Rule #4).

Nope. There so no way I am bring this off of the bukkit forums.

Wait, I see you are using 25585 for you port. This is not what you want to use. There is no reason to use anything other than 25565.

Since you say the port was open before, the only thing I can think of may be that you may have not port forwarded correctly, or that your firewall is blocking the server. Make sure you made an exception for your server in your firewall, and than you ported forward port 25565 for Both UTP and TCP.

No I had 25565 as my port for the whole time until I saw someone say try changing it so I changed it, now it says the port isn't open so I want to know how to open it

Yeah, don't change your port. Minecraft uses 25565 by default, and there is no reason to not use 25565.

I see in your first post that when you try to input an IP it says that that cannot bind to that port. Can you try setting the ip in the servers.properties and then posting the console log?

If i dont put the IP in the server.properties it starts up fine but sure

At this point, I can't think of anything else. Somehow, packets are able to be sent (since you said be fore that the ports were open), but it is somehow not sending MOTD. The only thing I can say is make sure your ip is the correct external IP, that you make sure there is exceptions in the firewall and in any antivirus program you have, and that you port forwarded the ports you are using.
