Question people on different wifi cant connect

i would like to set up a server for my friends. it works for everyone that is using my wifi, but no one else. i portforwarded and checked it several times. does anyone have an answer for me?

Use canyouseeme.org to check if you port forwarded correctly. Run your server, and check for port 25565. Most likely, it will say that the port is closed. If this is the case, make sure you made an exception in your firewall for the server and make sure you set port 25565 as Both in your router.

What happens if other players try to connect to your server? Are they even able to ping the MOTD?

 

people on the same wifi can see the motd. people on different wifi cant see anything

What does the IP you give to people look like? If it is a 192.168.x.x, then you need to give them the public IP, which you can see at https://www.ipchicken.com/

 

i have tried my ipv4, ipv6, and the one you showed me at ipchicken. none work. all still work only on the same wifi

Have you port-forwarded your router correctly? Is your firewall setup to allow minecraft server connections?

 

itis to my knowledge, it used to work a few months ago but then my pc was reset

If you reset your PC, it probably obtained a new IP address in the network, meaning you'll have to reconfigure it on the router.
