    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4
    • Fixes for CB1000

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    v2.1.2
    • Added "/res area replace" command, allows you to resize / move a physical area. If the new area is bigger, it will only charge you for the difference in size.
    • Added 'waterflow' and 'lavaflow' flags which override the flow flag if set.
    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

User BlastControl or HigherExplosives for that, two plugins that enable just that. This cannot be accomplished by Residences just yet.

As a general hint, everytime you made a big amount of residences, go into the folder and make a backup of the res.yml, just to be totally safe.

Also make sure you set the lease rate (when using them) for the group that makes the residence, else all residences get deleted after x minutes (save interval)

Odd, I had the same problem today. I logged into my server and all the residence were deleted! Yikes, does anyone have any information on this?

I'm using b740, and ResidenceVersion 2 (Latest res version at the time of b740)

Just curious, why are you not using craftbukkit v803?
I don't know what this problem is, I've never experienced it :/

Mostly because I didnt want to go update all my plugin again, everything was working fine on 740 as well. But it seems like someone else had the problem too, not sure whats causing this =/

Hello, I use this plugin but it seems that when build flag is false on a residence, players can always remove/place paintings, is it a bug ?
Thanks ! And sorry for bad english.

Yes thats a good reason not to update :p
I'm not sure sorry, you'll have to wait til bekvon sees this.
    -DanJames

Yes I think bekvon knows about this one and it's probably fixed in the dev build. I'm sure it will be fixed in the next recommended build.

Well all your residence's are still there. So are they just not being recognised by Residence. Check your server console on start-up. Is Residence loading?

Heu ya sorry... The problem is not plugin itself... I migrate my personal minecraft server to Brohoster Gold Tier (1024 mo). Since, my server crash 1 time per day. They told maybe it's plugin fault. im wondering if my res.yml fil is to big for my allocated memory.

The weird thing is I was used the same server files and setup before on my private server and i never got crash. 1 mounts running on a 2gig computer with 1536 mo allowed to MC server. It was laggy for other people because of my upload limit but never crashed.

    PLEASE HELP:
I made by residence, and an "area" in the res, but how do I let people "build" (only 1 person, like a property inside the city) on that "area" inside the residence? Becuase this player bought an area in the res.

I have a question about rent.

Is there a way to make it so that players can modify a residence they're renting?

    Daniel Few

I'm sorry I didn't quite understand your question.
So you've got a main residence and a subzone within that, and you want anyone to be able to build in the subzone.
To allow everyone to build in the subzone (as an admin or as residence owner):
    1. Stand inside the residence
    2. Type '/res set build true'
To allow a specific person to build inside the subzone (as an admin or as residence owner):
    1. Stand inside the residence
    2. Type '/res pset [player] build true
    Hope this helps,
    -DanJames

Do you mean they rent land and then can build on it or allowing them to change flags?
    -DanJames

    @bekvon
Heya!! Been using the latest dev build for ages now and I havent found any issues :/
Do you think it's possile to change to build=false flag to stop people being able to build up in the air?
Atm, they can get to high places by placing blocks on a wall as they go up. The blocks dissapear but they can still get up there. Is it possible to make it so if build: false and they place a block, they are teleported back to the position they were at when they placed the block, to stop them flying around.

    :)

    Double post lol xD
Well I thought I'd ask if you can change the color of the text when entering/leaving residences? I tried adding color codes to it but not much happened. Like this:
DefaultEnter: Welcome %player to &a%residence&e, owned by &a%owner&e.

Because I would like to higlight the residence and owner, if not possible, I maybee could request that as a feature? :p :)

Rent land and build on it. Even if I change flags for them and even if they have the admin flag when renting, even if they are set as the owner as well: so long as they are renting they cannot build. think you could just put an option in the config thats like modifywhenrented=true or something? Is there a way around this that I do not see? I dont see much of a point in renting out residences players cant build on

    @lovehandle
I'm not developing this, so I can't help with adding features, i'm just here to help.
But from what i've been told, though i may have this wrong, if you, as the person who has create and put the land up for rent, have the build flag, then when a person rents that land they get all ur flags. So if you have the build flag when putting it on the rent market, they will when they rent it.
    Hope that helps,

Thanks for the advice, but my Res still aren't working. I'm on Res 2.1.2 and Craftbukkit 803. I do have some backup files of my res.yml, but I can't seem to get them to work? Now I'm not that against rebuilding my whole residence network, however now anytime I try to make a residence it gets deleted soon afterward! :/ My lease system is set to false, yet I still feel the lease system is malfunctioning. Ima update to Res 2.1.3, hopefully that will help.

Well as i've said before, I use the dev version and I have no trouble. Try downloading the latest recommneded build of residence and see if that helps like your doing.

  23. I just can't get the flags for non-residences to work!
    i have:

    Global:

    TheCity:
    use: true
    build: false
    destroy: false
    ignite: false
    firespread: false
    damage: false
    creeper: false
    tnt: false
    pvp: false

But i can still build and/destroy!

Are you admin? because if you are you will be able to build/destroy anywhere.

You can set custom colors, but you have to use a special character, like this:

    §a = green
    or
    §e = yellow

Maybe I'll try to fix it in the future so that you can use & symbols.

Is there a way to make it possible to build on rented residences. I've followed Daniel's tips and tried various combinations of ownerships and flags, and it does not matter if the renting player is the owner, has the admin flag, has the build flag, or all of the above: he cannot build on rented land. If there is not a way to change this, would it be an easy-to-implement toggle in the config? or maybe just have the pset flags override the fact that the person is renting?

is there a way for admins to exceed the maximum amount of residences?
because i own for example the spawn...

To achieve this, I just created an admin group in the config and gave it a high residence count.
