How do I get players to join my server fast?

I have a factions/mcmmo/pvp/raiding server and people that have the IP love it but when I advetise on other servers or even sites they just ignore me and go join the known servers. Does it take time or is their a way to get players on quite quick?

1) Have a good server.
2) Get people to find it.

It generally takes some time unless you have a large Youtube following or similar.

 

@Sneaky03 It may be a little late for this, but it's useful advice anyway. Probably one of the best ways to get players quickly is to make sure that when you first release the server to the public, it's a darn good server, one that people would want to stay on very soon after joining. Otherwise, just keep finding ways to improve your game(s), make your voting rewards enticing, and players will come.

Here are some ways you can get your server very popular:
- custom texture packs
- very op things
- stuff other servers dont have, for example... My server has NetherIsland (Skyblock in the Nether)
- youtubers with good fan base to advertise your server
- ranks with very good permissions/kits/features to make people want to donate
- skype group chat for members and staff, thats what im doing
^ or just get a teamspeak if you wanna pay for a voice chat

remember to enable votifier so your members get amazing rewards!

 

@Spaace In my opinion, minus the "very op things". OP items may get people to play who just want some instant gratification, but there's two problems with that: 1) it wrecks the fun in actually playing the game and earning things, and 2) even if they say they're having "fun", most of them will quickly get bored and move on to another similar server with similar gameplay. Perhaps if you have tons of players flowing constantly like the number you said you have, this doesn't matter, but I don't believe it does so well for smaller servers.

 

I did not mean op things for servers such as survival multiplayer, i meant op items for servers that are op prison or
op factions.. do me a favor and check out play.vardengalaxy.us.to --- they are very op, and other than that I do see what you mean about members not having fun.

 

@Spaace I see what you mean. So long as the gameplay is balanced, OP things are alright. I simply believe players should work for items, spend more time on the server, and that the server should be play-to-win instead of "join and play for two minutes"-to-win. But again, if everything's balanced and the difference between players is still defined by time and work, it's a good server to me.

 

i gotten to the last rank in less than a day but it wasnt over, you get to do /prestige and you get the prestige suffix and you have to do it 10 times to say "i won", before the update i used to get 100 quadrillion on an inventory of emerald blocks, now i get almost 2 quadrillion. makes it an even harder experience for the players, it has to be balanced out. not too much and not too little... the players will either get bored after getting all of it or stressed after being harshly challenged

 

The one thing I hate is players complaing about 'why can't I have staff or op' and every server owner has had the same thing on their server but when you deny them you just know they will leave, what should I do?
It is common but most players do it now.
Also hackers, once they see it is a server that has a anti-hack plugin they will leave instantly.

 

@Sneaky03 Lol, that's when you just stand up and be proud that "CAN I HAZ OPS" noobs and hackers aren't welcome on your server.

 

advertise it, make a website, upload some youtube video about your server!
