why is wolvereness still listed as staff?I see you removed the rest but the jerk who gets bukkit shut down is not removed. What you dont want to piss him off more? http://forums.bukkit.org/XenStaff/ Wolvereness Bukkit Team Member, Male Messages: 575 Likes Received: 418 Trophy Points: 0
Toxic__Waste Most likely because "nobody has been removed except by their own resignation" (I'm not going to get into the EvilSeph debate) - as far as I know, Wolvereness hasn't actually resigned, and he's not a jerk.
Toxic__Waste You are just mad because you can't download Bukkit and play with it. Stop being so selfish and learn what is happening with the Bukkit Community. Wolf is a very intelligent man, and you have no right to say otherwise.
I use spigot anyways but you say im selfish but wolf kills bukkit wow and you call me selfish millions of users and hes a great guy lol get a life
Toxic__Waste Even if Wolvereness did not file the request on Bukkit, every contributor has the right to file their own request. Wolvereness did it because he had a valid reason to do so. Lets say that no one had filed a DCMA request, then Mojang would still have to deal with the Licence of Bukkit/CraftBukkit which would require them to make MC Open Source, which they don't want to do.
and how long has mojang have to deal with this license like years we have had updates the whole time..until now.im not saying he didnt have the right..but to excersize that right at this point when its been near a year between updates.I dont like what dinnerbone did locking everyone out.but that was his right to do.Dinnerbone said he was going to update to 1.8 but thats dead now unless he writes a whole new code removing wolfs.and we all thats near impossible.wolf just added way to much hes intergrated.if he would have waited 1 month we could have had a new update.millions of people thousands of servers.are all on hold due to wolf.and that makes him the most selfish person in the world at this point..
Toxic__Waste It's not your business to choose who is and isn't staff, I don't see any Admin tag on you?
Toxic__Waste Mojang doesn't want to sacrifice their code to keep Bukkit alive. They can't change the license without every contributor agreeing to change it(which will be impossible).
billywhiteMC lol with all the real staff resigning you think curse staff would get rid of the one person who screwed over millions but no they leave him there.but very quick to black list everyone else..damn i miss tnt yelling at me..instead of some noob..lol screw wolf.I hope it was worth it destroying servers and making kids cry.hope your happy mr. wolf
Toxic__Waste Dude.. grow up. Wolverness has all rights to 'screw over millions'... as you put it. However this is completely false, there are many developers creating a new, and better API. So stop complaining.
billywhiteMC he has the right from the begining he knew he would never get paid for his code.he was a contributor to a free project..I hope this comes up and bites him in the ass.mojang will lose money because of him..i hope they sue him back for losses.
Circle of (software) life and all that. We are basically back at the same stage as were with hmod four years ago, keeping the servers running on the last available version until we were able to move to something new. From my limited understanding of American law and what I have read so far I gather that Bukkit is not salvagable. A real pity, yes, but what else can we do than move on? Throwing more money at Mojang than Microsoft ever will so they will release Minecraft under an Open Sores license is pretty much a fancy illusion.
Toxic__Waste You seem to forget the it was announced that there would be no bukkit build for 1.8, and that was before the DMCA. Dinnerbone was going to update to 1.8 you say? Oh right. So tell me, how is that plugin API that was first mentioned 4 years ago is doing?
1. Bukkit is not dead, bukkit is an API that is licensed under the GNU GPL. Everyone knows this and can agree on it. 2. Bukkit will be updated to 1.8. The API will be ready when dinnerbone and grum get it done. 3. Bukkit as an API under the GPL can not be distributed with non compliant licensed code. 4. Craftbukkit as currently designed does not comply with the GPL of bukkit, so it has been DMCA'd, right or wrong, really does not matter. 5. Believe it or not, as long as the component parts of the system are compliant the "I can DMCA bukkit" camp will be hard pressed to do so with out repercussions. 6. Bukkit.jar can be distributed and used, Craftbukkit.jar can be distributed and used, minecraftserver.jar can be distributed and used. 7. To comply with the GPL, no code from a GPL program can be linked to or be distributed with a non compliant program, craftbukkit as originally designed is non compliant thus can not link to bukkit.jar or be distributed with it, however due to the gradle implementation of runtime interjection, craftbukkit can easily be stripped of the non compliant code and distributed as a single .jar and as a GPL/LGPL compliant program can link with a bukkit.jar. Craftbukkit.jar as an GPL/LGPL program can link to minecraftserver.jar. 8. Minecraftserver.jar can be downloaded at run time via wget or downloaded separately by the server owner/admin. 9. Bukkit, jar and craftbukkit.jar can be downloaded from the same repo as compliant and compatible licenses. So friends and neighbors I would be looking for a downloadable and legal bukkit and craftbukkit with in a relatively short time frame. It may not actually be craftbukkit it may be spigot and cauldron, but you get my drift. The only reason I say this is the Cauldron folks have pretty much proven this system can be done, all that is left to be done is making sure the copyright lawyers sign off on it. This has been a wonderful experience for all of us seeing what a licensing issue can do to a project. Making programs compliant with their licenses may be inconvenient at times but there usually is a way to make it work.
