I apologize ahead of time if this is the wrong section, but I didn't see a plugin discussion section.

What is the deal with GroupManager? Why isn't it available on Bukkit.org?

I have worked with plugins for a very long time and I'd say for a year or more GroupManager has been separate from the Essentials package and isn't available anywhere except the Essentials site, and I am just wondering why that is. Originally I thought it'd be some temporary thing, but that doesn't seem to be the case. With as popular as GroupManager is and being part of Essentials, the most installed plugin, you'd think it would be here. It's a pain having it external, especially in the case when I try and recommend it to clients and have to give them an odd link to it. It's also not organized at all for what version it's developed for, so it's a guessing game.

I also ask because with it being unavailable on Bukkit, it's also unavailable with the BukGet API. So is there a back story I missed as to why this is?

The maintainer of GroupManager currently does not want to upload the plugin to dev.bukkit.org.

Also, Groupmanager versions are pretty much compatible with most MC versions, 2.1.x being post-UUID, and 2.0.x being pre-UUID, post-commandblock.

Thanks for the information. I hope they eventually change their mind. It'd sure make everyone's life easier.

  5. Not possible I'm afraid. I disagree with policies on bukkit.org and as such I can't support such a site.

I can understand that. But to my own curiosity, isn't Essentials also under your development?(I understand it's a team effort) So why include one over the other? I just want to understand why GM out of thousands of plugins, is the only one not included here.

imN8 GM and essentials have different developers/maintainers.
