How do I get more players on and to stay on?

Ok so recently I have advertised to about 5 Websites (PMC, MSC, MSL) etc. People do come on but they stay for about couple minutes and leave. And also its a Factions PVP, Mob Arena server. Trying my best to add fun features!

 

Don't try too hard, and make it unique but simultaneously simple.

 

It helps when people join who know each other in real life, since people are more apt to play where their friends play. If you can manage to get a few regular players to stay who are friendly and frequently online, then new people who join will be more likely to stay. It takes time to grow a steady playerbase, so don't feel too disheartened when it doesn't happen overnight.

Oh, and pay attention to what time of day it is when you bump your website advertisements. I've noticed (on my server at least) that if I bump it late at night I get more trolls and undesirables who only stay long enough to get banned compared to when I bump in the afternoon and get more friendly players. Granted this will also vary across timezones and regions, so it isn't a guarantee, but it's still something to think about.
