Magic Wands

  1. I post a lot of plugin requests...this isn't one of them, which is why it isn't in the proper format. I need help looking for a plugin that will add 'wands' with spells. I've already found multiple plugins that claim to do this, but they are either:

    A) Too confusing for me. I've spent 2+ hours trying to get the config for some of them to work before just scrapping the idea of using it all together.

    B) Don't offer the 'wand' feature that I am looking for (each wand is different with a spell in its lore).

    TehMinecraftPoke Please list the spells etc that you want and all features for the plugin.

    Honestly, I don't care about which spells the plugin has. I'm just looking for a plugin that has a relatively decent selection to choose from that can be added to a 'wand'.

  5. cometear Just looked into it. I'm putting that under reason A as to why I am not using it.

    I searched the website and there's no documentation on how to create a spell and how to bind it to a wand. This plugin has taken the title for most confusing plugin for me personally. The config file tries to explain it to you, but when you look at the preset spells/wands, they have more options than what it informs you about.

    I use it, you just put the spell recipes on a bookshelf and click it with the wand you made. Than hold the spelltome and left click. You can easily bind it to a wand with /bind.
     
  7. cometear How do you get the wand? It doesn't show their recipes in the config, and I can't find a command to spawn it in.

    EDIT: I think I figured it out. I'll get back to you if I can't figure something out.

    EDIT2: Is it possible to make it so players do not have to learn the spell in order to use the wand?

    You make the wand diagonally from bottom left to top right:
    Bottom left: Gold Ingot
    Middle: Stick
    Top right: Glowstone dust

    The user has to know the spell to bind it to a wand, and they can't use wands unless they know the spell.

    Specifically with wands and spells?
    I have a named and enchanted wand that has 320 spells on it.
    You can set automatically learn the spells you make
    or that a player buys it (Needs magicspells shop)
    or you teach them it or they learn it from a scroll
    or bookcase you set somewhere. For example the deepest
    darkest dankest dungeon you could dare to make for a mad
    power spell. Or grant them as permissions per rank, or like
    I have done for about 200 spells and use jobs at certain levels to
    unlock the spells by granting them permissions for them as they
    rank up in each job. Miners get mining spells, farmers get farming
    spellsm builders, mechanics, raiders and so on. you can set teams
    for pvp or multiple group events. (Needs magic spells teams)

    You would just paste the stick name into the config next to each spell
    to make it so that was the default cast item or wand for that spell.
    This means the server's "approved wand" would evolve with the
    player's new spells as they learn them immediately adding to their
    list of cycleable spells. This plugin does amazing things.
    There is a huge amount of documentation and well written reference
    on this just click the link ^ It does "everything" in the sence you can
    make spells include functions from other plugins even multispells
    that perform mad complex world edits or log check tasks with a single click.
    Wands FTW. MagicSpells FTW.

    I understand that this plugin is very versatile and can accomplish what I want and more, but I just do not understand any of it. The files are confusing and the wiki just doesn't explain it well enough for me.

    I'm going to ask some questions one by one to try and get through this:

    When you said paste the stick name, is that the name I give the stick after I rename it in the game? For example, if I rename the stick "ABC", then I put that in for the 'cast-item'?

    Yep! If you console/in-game give yourself a color name stick then /c bind any spell to it.
    Go into the spellbooks folder sort by date and open your spellbook. (it will be the newest)
    Scroll down to the spell name you bound the stick to to get the exact internal name for that new stick/wand
    Something like:

    cast-item: 280|§b§lFlux Capacitor Cane

    ^ A stick with the name light blue in bold.
    You just replace the below book entry with the stick name above.
    This spell now has a wand associated with it. Players learning this
    spell dont need to bind it now as you already did that for them.

    I found the "§" symbol works better for color name detection rather than "&"
    for magic spells but you may get better joy with "&" if using another or similar
    plugin that dont let you use the "§"
    (One way to type it is hold right alt and then 0167 on number keypad)

    This lets 2 different name color wands and a plain book be L click cycle spells items by default
    for any spell you paste for cast-item: ????

    IE.... Wands many or just 1 for whole server. Lovely... Shiney, flashy wands! Mmmm!
    This is my 320 spells wand

    ^ Be afraid :D

    This is my mad sword that triggers 15 or so spells 1 - 5 % chance each hit.

    If you are interested in my massive spells-regular.yml AND spells-general.yml
    Click link. It represents ridiculous hours of testing and config. Many of the spells
    I made in this are simply too OP for some servers. Be advised if you check out
    the config <3 Should probably just use it as a working reference for making your
    own awesome unique spells or working with your server's players to let them
    suggest some. Them be lovin it.

    in notepadd++ or something decent do a find and replace for

    cast-item: book
    cast-item: bone
    cast-item: stick

    replace with
    cast-item: your chosen spell wand names in the format as shown above.
    If you put just "stick" it will be any stick. A name means only that stick.
    A player may still bind the spell to whatever if you made the spell to allow it.

    Thanks. So after I create the wand and it has all the spells bound to it, if I give the wand to a regular player, will they be able to scroll through all the spells are use them? I plan on adding them to dungeon chests.

    Is there a guide on how to create your own spells? I'm not sure what 'spell-class' is.

    Yes totally.

    Left click cycles down the spells bound to that item and shift L click cycles back up them.
    R click casts the currently selected spell on wand. The wand it's self does not teach the spell.
    They will need a spell tome (book) scroll (paper) or bookcase to click to learn the spell or
    you can /c teach playername spellname or even just auto grant them by default using
    permissions like magicspells.grant.spellname for each rank/team that will use spells.
    It's possible to get other plugins to grant spells also.

    Like...
    A protection stone that has a grant player spell command on player enter field.
    An essentials gift item or votifier reward.
    A /rankup bonus reward auto console command that grants the ranked up player spells.

    Simply leave a spell tome in chest with the spell you want to award the player for completing the
    dungeon. They will then learn the spell which has the wand already as it's cast item.
    If want only 1 spell for each wand you would need to set so every spell couldnt be
    bound by the player to anything else and have a specific unique cast wand for each.

    Many wands are cool but 1 wand to rule them all is the business.
