Weird Symbols On Items With Lore

Ok so on my server when I create a chestshop sign this happens. (First image)

Now in a specific world, I have items with custom lores, values, etc, but after two server restarts, this happened. (Image two is original items, image three is after two server restarts.) (Another note, before the second server restart, I warped myself to another world and the lores turned out like they are.)

So my question is, why are these weird symbols coming out of nowhere???

Ok, I don't mean to bump this thread twice in a day, but I should note some very important information.
-This only happens when the server crashes (or maybe when it stops, unsure) and your in another world. (e.g, I play on the world with the items with lore, leave to another world, and then while I'm in the new world, the server crashes. Upon reboot and travel to the world with items with lore, they have this glitch.)

tepig090 Try booting the server with only the item lore plugin and multiverse enabled, and repeat the situation that gives you the error.

Hm ok then that rules out all the other plugins... So this never happens unless you switch worlds with multiverse?

 

I have the same problem with essentials kits and when items in the kits have custom names. It only happens when the server is restarted, crashes, etc. Im not sure about switching worlds because I only have items with custom names in the pvp world and I have multiverse inventories so inv's are not shared across creative, survival and pvp worlds.

I have not found a fix for this yet but I have a feeling it could have something to do with the cache and when the server shuts down the cache is not transferred from the RAM to the players inventory file properly there for resulting in funky item names.

Not sure if its true or not.. its just a theory I have.

If I stop the server/crashes after playing in a world that doesn't have the custom items, when I return to that world, the glitch happens.

Do you periodically do backups throughout the day?

On my server, I have Multiverse, Essentials Kits with custom names/enchants/lore but it doesn't crash. But I also backup my server every hour (does an rsync to a local folder) and issues the following commands:

broadcast Backup started.
save-off
save-all
** At this point, I do the rsync to copy the changed files to the backup folder **
broadcast Backup completed.
save-on

 

I don't know how any of this would stop the glitch from happening... I backup my server (right click folder, copy and paste,) once everyday usually.

Same happens to me.
The items I have have those weird symbols and lose their plugin properties.

 

There is a HUGE difference between backing up your folder and backing up what is running in memory. Those commands I showed you ensure that what you backup is the same as if you were to shutdown the server, make a copy and then bring the server back online...but without stopping the server.

 

Yeah that seemed to fix it. Weird symbols are gone but for me the plugin items are still bugged.
For example, lets say I have a Lobby plugin in which items shoot pigs or something, when I save the server copy everything the item no longer works when I load that save. It might be something with Multiverse

 

Well, I found out that it is Multiverse Inv. I remove it from the plugins loaded up the server and no text error. So, its probably something wrong with the item name saving.


I suggest using MultiInv its just like multiverse INV
