Portals keep breaking my spawn

Random nether portals keep popping up in my spawn. How do I prevent them from doing this because it is ruining my spawn. Thanks

 

My best guess is that people are making nether portals in the nether, and it generates a new one in the normal world.

 

Yes, that is exactly what is happening. My question is how can I get it to not generate a new one in the normal world?

 

Do you use WorldGuard? I guess you could use deny build flags one you set your spawn region and see if that stops it.

 

ok I set the build flag to deny, and I did some brief testing. It looks like it may have solved the problem but I'm not entirely sure. I'll have to keep an eye on it over the next couple days. In the meantime I am still open to other suggestions. Thanks!

Go to the Nether from the middle of spawn, create a region wide enough from that point where nobody can create a new portal...then destroy that portal and any others in the area.

Another way to prevent it in case you don't have worldguard is to pre-emptively build the 1st portal from spawn to the nether. Then make sure nobody can destroy the portal and it should not pop-up anywhere else. The problem is that you keep destroying the portal and it has to re-create another one somewhere.
