  1. I've created a Minecraft server using CraftBukkit on a Minecraft version 1.7.9. The server is hosted on a VPS.

When the server is created in

    online-mode=true

I can't join the server and it outputs with an error message "Authentication servers are down. Please try again later, sorry!"

When the server is created in

    online-mode=false

I can join the server, but I can't see any player's skin (All players are steves - default skin), just mine only.

I've been googling, searching online for any solutions, just to find myself hopeless.

As to what I came across while searching, that there seems to the need to 'allow' certain IP's with ports to the network traffic for the authentications to work.

Searched for how to do something like this and found that I have to do something with iptables. I don't know much about them, but tried to add the 443 port to INPUT section of the iptables, but that didn't help. I also tried to put it in OUTPUT section and still not working. Also tried to find how to add IPs, but had no luck.

If there is a way on how to fix this, please let me know and if you need any more information i'll be glad to give you!

This isn't fixable, Mojang is working on their authentication servers for some reason. You just have to wait until they bring them back up. This is as far as I know about this topic
